WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Eleven Degrees consulting, on behalf of Generic Brands Limited, a company that specializes in the importation, distribution, and marketing of a wide range of Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) wishes to fill the vacant position of a Warehouse Manager on Full Time Contract basis to be based in Nairobi.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of our warehouse facility. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory control, team leadership, safety protocols, and logistics. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Key Duties/ Responsibilities.

1. Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring timely and efficient processing of incoming and outgoing shipments.
    Plan, coordinate, and monitor the warehouse layout, space utilization, and stock levels.
    Ensure that all orders are processed, picked, packed, and shipped in an accurate and timely manner.

2. Inventory Control & Management:

• Implement and manage inventory control systems to track stock levels and minimize discrepancies.

Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.

Ensure proper storage of goods and monitor inventory to avoid overstocking or stock outs.

Team Leadership and Training:

Supervise and lead warehouse staff, including team scheduling, performance evaluations, and motivation.

  • Train new hires on warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and operational processes.
  • Foster a positive, productive work environment and resolve any team-related issues.

Logistics & Shipping Coordination:

Coordinate with shipping carriers to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.

Review and approve shipping documentation and ensure that all shipments are properly documented

Monitor and optimize logistics operations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

5. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Enforce all safety regulations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Conduct regular safety training and audits.

Ensure all employees are following proper safety protocols to minimize accidents or injuries.

Continuous Improvement:
Analyze warehouse processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Monitor performance metrics such as order accuracy, fulfillment rates, and labor productivity.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance warehouse operations.

Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare regular reports on inventory, shipping activities, and operational performance.

• Maintain accurate records of goods received, stored, and shipped.

Academic and professional Qualifications and experience required

Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field is preferred

Proven experience 5 years in warehouse management or logistics with 2 years at a leadership position.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management systems, and supply chain processes.

• Proficient in using warehouse management software (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Key Skills and Competences

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Ability to work under minimal supervision but follow instructions provided by the Procurement Manager and liaise with other departments.

Knowledge of inventory management and stock control processes.

Ability to travel to different store locations as required.

In-depth knowledge of sales techniques, contract negotiation, and customer relationship management
