
Overview of the Position:
The Volunteer Liaison for CorpsAfrica/Kenya performs a variety of highly responsible and confidential managerial and administrative duties. This position manages a select number of Volunteers, supporting them through their CorpsAfrica service- both emotionally and through their projects. This position reports to the Deputy Country Director.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Be knowledgeable about and carry out policies, systems, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations of the organization.
- Provide Project Management guidance and support to Volunteers in the field.
- Serve as “coaches” and mentors for Volunteers in Human Centered Design and Community-Led Development so that they can innovate and create a “design thinking” culture at their sites.
- Use Human Centered Design (HCD) and Community-Led Development (CLD) as part of all activities and consciously create a culture of design thinking in the office and in the field.
- Maintain records and archives of all Volunteer activities and projects and share their weekly reports.
- Prepare and send weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports on Volunteer activity.
- Interact with NGOs, government officials, academia, bank, corporates and agency administrators etc. at County level and leverage on these partnerships/networks to support the Volunteer and communities during integration, community mapping, fund-raising, project execution and launches.
- Assist Volunteers during integration, community mapping, project ideation and selection, local fundraising as well as project execution and launch.
- Be responsible for site and host-family selection, with routine travel to all Volunteer sites.
- Other responsibilities as requested by the Deputy Country Director.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Community Service or other related fields and at least three years of professional experience with one year of field experience
- Extremely detail-oriented, results oriented, and organized
- A passion and commitment to youth leadership, participatory community development, impact evaluation, transparency, and accountability
- Excellent speaking, writing, presentation, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and all Google Docs)
- Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion along with a professional demeanor and personal style that elicits trust
- Demonstrate high social and emotional intelligence.
- A demonstrable understanding of Kenyan laws and the government administrations
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required
