TERMS OF REFERENCE VIDEO EDITOR
• Reports to: Head of Production
• Location: Nairobi, with travel to Regional Offices and identified conferences and meetings
• Salary: KES 65,000 Gross
Job Description:
We seek a highly skilled and motivated Video Editor with a passion for human rights to join our
team. The ideal candidate should have exceptional oral and written communication skills in
English and demonstrated traits of tact, discretion, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to
function in a confidential capacity.
Responsibilities:
1. Editing, subtitling, insertion of necessary subtitling, and fact-checking videos related to
human rights issues.
2. Assembling raw material into finished film products suitable for broadcast, consisting of
audio/video material, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, and special effects.
3. Contributing to discussions on and helping in the development of a suitable storyline and
script for the film.
4. Sourcing, selection, and use of music that fits the video edits.
5. Working with the producer to achieve the desired result and achieve this within the
provided timelines.
6. Utilizing leading graphic, audio, and video tools, including Adobe CC Suite, and especially
Premiere Pro, and working knowledge of Mac OS to produce high-quality videos.
7. Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and
meeting tight deadlines.
8. Collaborating with internal teams and external media partners to produce compelling video
content.
9. Staying up-to-date with the latest video editing trends and technologies.
Requirements:
1. Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Film and Video Production.
2. At least three years of video editing experience, focusing on human rights-related content.
3. Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, as well as working knowledge
of Mac OS.

4. Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
5. Self-motivation, creative problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skills.
6. Exceptional interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within the organization and with
external media partners.
7. Flexibility in responding quickly to events as they occur and producing excellent material
under tight deadlines.
