TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN

Mediamax Network Limited is a national multi-media broadcaster on digital print (People Daily), radios (Milele FM, Kameme FM, Msenangu, Emoo, Meru FM, Mayian), TVs (K24 TV and Kameme TV), online and social networks. Mediamax Network Ltd generates content primarily in Kiswahili and English with several radio stations broadcasting in vernacular.

As a Transmission Technician, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and optimizing network transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable data transmission. You will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end build process from conceptualization to execution while fostering innovation and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure stations are on-air in allocated regions.
  • Ensure faulty equipment are repaired and returned to site in good working order.
  • Carry out new site installations as and where applicable.
  • Carry out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenances.
  • Establish, implement & adhere to safety standards at transmission sites.
  • Submit weekly reports as per agreed deadlines.
  • Perform extensive equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Ensure all sites are in conformity with all Communications Authority measures.

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience (8 years) in FM and DVB transmission systems, with a focus on design, implementation and optimization.
  • A Team player with ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Ability to develop and operationalize standards for activations of Transmission networks.
  • Have an understanding of various transmitter protocols and communication systems.
  • Ability to design and implement new transmission systems in new regional sites.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and data querying languages.
  • Skill of Rigging is an addition.
