Job Summary:

The Tax Director will oversee all tax-related functions and report directly to the Tax Partner. This role involves leading the tax team to ensure compliance, optimize tax positions, and manage tax risks for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in accountancy, tax law, strategic thinking, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the tax function, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws.

• Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and enhance financial performance.

• Oversee the preparation and review of local tax returns.

• Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

• Advise senior management on tax-related matters and the potential impact of proposed business decisions.

• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the company and its clients.

• Coordinate with external tax advisors and legal counsel as needed.

• Develop and mentor the tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance.

• Prepare and present tax-related reports to senior management and the board of directors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Qualifications such as CTA, ADIT, PODITRA an added advantage

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Job experience with Uganda Tax Authority or an Audit Firm would be an added advantage.

• Comprehensive knowledge of intyernational, local tax laws and regulations.

• Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and strategy.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in tax software and MS Office Suite.

• Experience with international tax issues is a plus.
