owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, and holds the following operational
licenses. System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid, Bulk Power Supply,
Import and Export of Power and; Public Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of
the Optic Fibre).

Job Title: Systems Administrator
Department: ICT Department
Reports to: Senior Systems Administrator
Job Purpose
Install, configure, maintain and optimize performance of systems. Role is also responsible
for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance
of systems. In addition, role analyses system logs and identifies potential issues;
applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes and is
responsible for performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical
enterprise systems in accordance with ICT policy.
Key Result Areas
1. Ensure security for IT systems by implementing security policies and procedures in
accordance to the ICT policies and guidelines.
2. Administer the Storage Area Network (SAN) backups, snapshots and their corresponding
restoration and coordinate contingency plan tests on a regular basis.
3. Apply Operating System patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade
administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
4. Administer and support the Disaster Recovery (DR) system, CCTV, digital security access
control and time and attendance environments for high availability (95%).
5. Continuously monitor systems and maintain an up-to-date documentation of the
corresponding configurations.
6. Install, configure and maintain all enterprise IT systems including directory services,
internet and email. Maintain an availability of 95%.
7. Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications, Experiences and Competences
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Physical sciences
(Math or Physics) or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
or related IT field.
Possession of IT professional certificate(s) such as Microsoft, Linux, CompTIA, Cisco,
Oracle, CISA or ITIL
3 years’ experience in IT field from reputable organization.
Significant experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting
o Windows server active directory domain services and network infrastructure
o Windows server application infrastructure
o Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and above
Knowledge of Storage technology such as IBM N3600 and V7000
Knowledge of firewall technologies such as Cisco ASA, Checkpoint or Fortinet
Knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V and V-Centre
Server
Good analytical and communication skills.
Can demonstrate a background of personal and group leadership.
A person of integrity, highly motivated, innovative and a committed team player.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATION
