Title: Software Developer
Salary Grade: Grade D
Reports to: Senior Software Programmer
Work Station: Future Link Technologies Ltd (FLT), Plot 97, Bukoto Street, Kampala

Purpose of the position
The Software Programmer will continuously develop & improve the functionality and efficiency of all software products of the company, so as to maintain a well-satisfied network of clients.

Key Responsibilities:
•Develop SAVINGS PLUS and MSACCO updates to enhance the capability and functionality of the software as prescribed by the Chief Software Architect or Senior Manager of Technology and Innovation.
•Correct any malfunctioning of the Client’s installations by troubleshooting with them.
•Work with payment channel owners such as Telecoms, banks and ATM owners, to troubleshoot and correct any malfunctioning in the MSACCO Banking switch.
•Carry out and maintain weekly full backups of all source code and architecture of SAVINGS PLUS from all team players, including fellow programmers, Software Architects.
•Carry out and maintain a monthly full backup of all company digital information.
•Research and introduce new innovations to improve the performance and functionality of SAVINGS PLUS software.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or its equivalent  Knowledge, skills and abilities
•AJAX, PHP, PYTHON, XML, C, SHELL, PERL programming working with both LINUX and WINDOWS platforms, proficient with Webservices
•MYSQL, ORACLE, POSTGRES Database Server Management
•A very good understanding of Networking, preferably with a CCNA certification.

Proficiency in the use of computer programs for:
• Software Programming
• Computer Networking
• Database Administration

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
