Role overview:

We seek to recruit an experienced and self-motivated individual for the role of Social Media Producer. Reporting to the Editor, Social, Search & Analytics, the job holder will play a critical role in disseminating news content, engaging with the audience, and increasing the NMG’s visibility and influence on social media platforms. They will create compelling and accurate social media content based on news stories and articles produced by the newsroom. He/she must have strong digital, audience data, and multimedia skills needed to support NMG’s digital transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taking high quality, engaging and relevant content from NMG platforms and curating it for social media platforms, including posts, images, videos, infographics, and stories;
  • Building a positive and interactive community around NMG brands by monitoring and engaging with the audience through comments, messages, and mentions;
  • Planning and maintaining a content calendar to ensure a consistent and cohesive posting schedule across all NMG social media channels;
  • Work with journalists and editor to plan for social media content from conception of story ideas to publication;
  • Ensure compliance with media laws, regulations, social media platform policies and the NMG Editorial and Social Media polices in all social media activities;
  • Work with the Audience Analysts to monitor and analyze the performance of social media campaigns and individual posts using analytics tools and provide regular reports on key performance metrics and use insights to optimize future strategies;
  • Monitor social media platforms for any potential issues or crises and handle them professionally and appropriately;
  • Monitor social media trends and conversations to identify opportunities for content creation and engagement.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field;
  • Proven work experience as a Social Media Producer, Multimedia Producer or similar role in a newsroom or media organization;
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics tools;
  • Excellent knowledge of current events, news cycles, and audience preferences;
  • Understanding audiences;
  • Creative writing ability;
  • Knowledge of media ethics, copyright laws, and privacy regulations as they relate to social media content.
  • Proficiency in using social media listening and sentiment analysis tools.
