Description
- The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for a Senior Research Analyst in the Research Division/Environmental Matters Department.
Main Responsibilities
- Carries out analyses and in-depth studies on issues related to trade, climate change and sustainable development that are of interest to OPEC Member Countries, provides analyses of international trade relations and global environmental economic issues related to the Organization’s interests and goals, and prepares reports thereon.
- Identifies potential areas of co-operation between Member Countries on matters related to trade, climate change and sustainable development, and assists in designing and developing common approaches aiming at coordinating policies in international negotiations.
- Contributes to and delivers speeches, articles and presentations to internal meetings and various international fora.
- Collects, integrates and analyses data and information on emerging international economic trade, environmental and policy aspects; and draws conclusions regarding possible implications for OPEC and its Member Countries.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a network of experts from Member Countries on multilateral agreements and the WTO; assists in organizing seminars and workshops in this area.
- Carries out any other tasks assigned by the relevant superiors as pertain to his/her background, qualifications and position.
Requirements and Work Experience
- University Degree in Economics or related fields coupled with a solid background in economics
- Advanced degree preferred
- University degree: 10 years
- Advanced degree: 8 years
Training Specialization:
- Development Economics
- International Economics
- Research and analysis of trade, climate change and sustainable development issues
- Experience and knowledge of applied econometrics and quantitative techniques are an asset

Offer
Monthly basic salary of (€8,300 x 12 per year), with tax-free benefits and six-week annual leave.
