Job Title: Senior Petrophysicist

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

  • This role will play a pivotal role in driving reservoir characterization, development planning, and decision-making processes in our technically challenging and high- potential oil and gas fields

Key Responsibilities
Reservoir Evaluation & Characterization:

  • Supervise the Analysis and interpretation of well log data to assess reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation.
  • Integrate petrophysical data with geological, geophysical, and engineering datasets to create robust reservoir models.
  • Support reservoir management by providing insights into fluid dynamics and reservoir behavior.

Data Integration & Interpretation:

  • Utilize advanced petrophysical software and techniques to process, analyze, and interpret logging and core data.
  • Ensure seamless integration of petrophysical data with seismic and production data to enhance hydrocarbon recovery strategies.

Mentorship & Team Building:

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff, fostering skill development within the team.

Well Planning & Execution:

  • Provide expert guidance & petrophysical input in well planning, completion, and workover operations.
  • Support real-time decision-making during drilling and logging activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of completion techniques and provide recommendations for optimization.

Research and Innovation:

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in petrophysics.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions to address reservoir characterization challenges

Research and Innovation:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on petrophysical evaluations and findings for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of petrophysical data and interpretations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in petrophysics within the upstream oil and gas industry, with significant exposure to reservoir characterization.
  • Strong background in using petrophysical software such as Techlog, Petrel, Interactive Petrophysics (IP), or similar tools.
  • Certification in relevant disciplines or technologies (e.g., SPE Certified Petroleum Professional) is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience with advanced logging tools (e.g., LWD, MWD, NMR) and data interpretation techniques.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Deep understanding of petrophysical principles, log interpretation, and core analysis.
  • Willingness to work in diverse field conditions and adapt to the dynamic nature of the oil and gas industry.
  • Keen attention to detail in data analysis, interpretation, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in integrating multidisciplinary datasets to develop accurate reservoir models.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-standard petrophysical and reservoir modeling tools.
