Senior Human Resources Officer

Eleven Degrees consulting, on behalf of an internal client – Mini Bakeries (Nbi) Ltd, wishes to fill the vacant position of Senior Human Resources Officer on Fixed Term Contract Basis to be based in Nairobi/Mombasa/Kisumu Towns.

Position

Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Officer will assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource Department. This role includes implementing the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Development of the Human Resources Department:

  • Assist and ensure that line managers adhere to policies and communicate with candidates promptly as per established procedures.
  • Participate in the recruitment process and contribute to the development of HR policies.
  • Administer HR programs to align the workforce with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Participate in developing HR goals, objectives, plans, and systems.
  • Attend and contribute to administrative staff meetings and seminars.
  • Establish departmental measurements to support strategic goals.
  • Support line managers in staff leave scheduling and monitor leave records.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Process payroll inputs and provide backup support for monthly HR reports.
  • Assist in organization development initiatives addressing workforce development and change management.
  • Prepare and present periodic HR reports as requested and implement HR decisions

2. Employee Relations and Communication:

  • Recommend and enforce employee relations practices to establish positive employee-employer relationships.
  • Advise and support line managers in managing employee relations issues.
  • Assist in resolving policy-related and procedural inquiries and problems.
  • Participate in investigations of employee complaints.
  • Manage the end-to-end disciplinary process and counsel staff on employment issues.
  • Oversee employee communication and feedback through various channels.
  • Monitor the organization’s culture to promote employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with office-wide committees such as wellness and safety committees.

3. Human Resource Information Systems:

  • Assist ICT staff in maintaining the HR sections of Internet and Intranet sites.
  • Oversee the maintenance of up-to-date employee databases and records.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee leave and absences.
  • Recommend and maintain HR databases, software systems, and filing systems.

4. Performance Management:

  • Assist in implementing the performance management system, including job description reviews and performance appraisal tools.
  • Address performance-related issues in line with company policy.
  • Ensure all staff comply with the performance management program.

5. Learning & Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive orientation sessions for new employees
  • Implement learning and development initiatives by identifying training needs.
  • Manage an in-house employee training system and coordinate the training calendar.
  • Collect and evaluate training feedback and assess the application of learnings.
  • Assist line managers in developing ways to upskill potential employees.

Qualifications:

Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or its equivalent

• Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP)/ Higher National Diploma is desirable.
At least six years of HR experience in a labour-intensive, unionized environment within FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
Minimum of three years of hands-on experience with HRMISS

Strong technical skills in various aspects of human resource management.

 

IHRM membership is mandatory.
