Job Description
TKWS is seeking a motivated, curious, and ambitious individual to join its dynamic multimedia newsroom. The Senior Editor will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and will regularly facilitate cross-teams within the organization.
The expectations of the Senior Editor include but are not limited to:
- Editing, copy editing, proof reading, and fact checking content submitted by members of the team for publication.
- Managing the editorial calendar and the day-to-day flow of the newsroom.
- Leading world-class editorial content production and enforcing editorial guidelines across all of
- TKWS’s multimedia products.
- Working with analysts, freelancers, and interns to promptly flesh out pitches and story ideas.
- Story conception, supervision, editing, and publishing.
- Build and maintain relationships with external contributors to TK WS’s products.
Job Requirements
The following requirements must be met in order to apply for this position.
- A degree in Journalism, Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline.
- At least two years in business journalism with experience in multimedia content production.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in reviewing and proofreading content.
- Proficiency in using editing, publishing, and design software, such as Microsoft Word, WordPress, content management systems, and Canva.
- Creativity and the ability to think strategically to develop engaging and relevant content across different platforms among a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili (Mandarin, French or Arabic is a plus) with excellent verbal and written skills.
This position is a hybrid role which requires in-office presence (M,W,F), reporting from 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
