SECURITY AND SAFETY OFFICER

Job Purpose

To manage and be accountable for providing security policies, codes of practice, strategy, and operational activity for the Bank, ensuring overall security.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and ensure prescribed security services are at the Head Office and all branches.
  • Ensure that all surveillance across the Bank establishments are in sound working condition, monitored, and reserved.
  • Carry out Security Risk assessment and make recommendations to senior management, assessing levels of risk in terms of wider issues affecting the Banking environment and National Security status.
  • Investigate fraud cases involving staff and prepare reports to the disciplinary committee.
  • Encourage bank staff to report all incidents ensuring that the reports are analyzed in terms of emerging issues to inform decision making.
  • To be accountable for the security budget.
  • Advise Senior Management on confidential or sensitive matters and act as a link (conduit) between the Bank and the police at all levels to expedite solutions to difficult situations.
  • Coordinate court hearings and presentation of witnesses.
  • Receive and deal with any information with a security dimension and confidentially deal with this.
  • Develop policies and procedures and ensure they are communicated to and interpreted appropriately by staff to minimize the risk of crime.
  • Analyze, coordinate, and lead recovery/mitigating activities in response to security-related emergencies – coordinating activities with other relevant senior managers.
  • Responsible for all security-associated decisions with the aim of speedy recovery and the resumption of normal business.
  • Assist in the coordination of BCP/DRP efforts from a security perspective.
  • Various quarterly reports on security matters.

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Relevant degree from a recognized institution
  • Security Management certification from a recognized security training institution;
  • Diploma in Security studies/management or any relevant field;
  • Certificate in Computer Proficiency;
  • A valid Certificate of good conduct from the National Police Service;
  • Relevant experience in the police force or other security agencies is an added advantage.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
