Sales support Officer

Job description:

This position reports to the Kenya Sales Manager and is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and supporting sales team in Kenya to ensure, rate filing, vessel filling factor, disputes, rate queries are attending in timely manners, while promoting and selling both maritime and non-maritime products, and act as a back-up for both inside and outside sales.

Main tasks and Responsibilities:

• Supports North Corridor (Kenya & Uganda) Inside and Outside sales desks with day-to-day customer related issues.
• Handles all digitalized accounts.
• Proactively analyses sales performance based on budget and assists with identifying missing clients.
• Prepares customer call reports for pre-planned sales visits.
• Provide booking forecast/customer allocation for all Voyages calling Mombasa.
• Resolves customer sales related issues and assists with the dispute resolution process.
• Provides credit and collection assistance.
• Escalates urgent issues to internal department for action.
• Directly negotiates or communicates negotiations of rate(s) with line/trade management on behalf of the customer or field representative for Import, Export and/or Foreign to Foreign business.
• Promote non maritime products, VAS.
• Ensures filing is completed and correct to minimize disputes and flow of booking process.
• Promotes eBusiness platform and all related products.
• Assists with cargo campaign and calling customers for business.
• Participates in sales and team meetings.
• Reports KIPs, monitors rates and issues.
• Assists booking team to ensure rates are in place prior to possession of cargo
• Supports financial mitigations be it customer or company dispute associated.
• Informs customer of current issues or future increase/decrease of rates in a timely manner.
• Assists team, to include outside coverage, during absences or periods of low staffing.
• Maintain a client base and visit them regularly.
• Any other duties assigned.

Skills & Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in a commercial field, preferably commerce, sales & marketing, supply chain. Degree in maritime studies is acceptable. Diploma qualification in logistics, sales & marketing, supply chain with proven work experience may be considered.
• Past experience in sales or commercial leaning role will be an added advantage
