GreenDot Savings and Cooperative Society (SACCO) is a licensed financial institution, regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA), established in 2010 to serve the savings, credit and investments needs of Deloitte staff in Uganda.
GreenDot SACCO is seeking to hire a SACCO Manager to oversee the operations of the institution and actively lead the implementation of the SACCO’s 5-year strategy (2025 – 2029).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
Strategy Management
- Lead and monitor the implementation of the SACCO’s Strategic Plan in consultation with the Executive Committee (ExCo) and the relevant sub-committees.
- Provide quarterly updates on the implementation of the SACCO’s Strategic Plan, highlighting any constraints and mapping out action plans for future initiatives.
- Attend and participate in industry seminars, and conferences at all levels to keep informed of the developments affecting the SACCO’s business environment.
Financial Management
- Provide leadership in overall financial management of the SACCO as well as in the preparation of the SACCO’s financial statements, budgets, and performance analyses.
- Present and interpret financial information and dashboards to the ExCo. This includes conducting budgets versus actual performance analysis and advising the ExCo on the modalities to maintain growth, arrest any declines or pursue longer-term financial goals.
- Prudently manage the costs of the SACCO and explore additional avenues to cut unnecessary or non-value-adding costs.
- Formulate sound financial management policies, controls, procedures and systems that ensure effective accountability for the SACCO’s resources.
- Approve payments within the stipulated thresholds.
Credit Management
- Oversee the receipt, evaluation and approval of loan applications from members.
- Conduct regular review of the SACCO’s loan portfolio to identify trends and patterns that would be assist in liquidity management.
- Participate in the assessment of loan collateral including conducting field visits to asset locations.
- Escalate any pertinent loan-related issues to the Loans sub-committee for prompt resolution.
- Confirm and maintain the SACCO’s inventory of land titles, vehicle log-books and other documentation related to loan collateral.
Member Engagement
- Engage with members regularly to understand their needs and develop products and service offerings that are tailored accordingly.
- Coordinate the performance of a bi-annual member satisfaction survey.
- Coordinate the logistics for member engagement activities in consultation with the relevant sub-committees.
- Promote the SACCO’s corporate image by portraying it to members in a professional manner at all times.
Investment Management
- Monitor and evaluate the SACCO’s investment portfolio to ensure investment performance is tracked and appropriate measures are taken to ensure adequate returns on invested funds.
- Provide updates to the Finance and Investments sub-committee on the performance of existing investments and advise on potential unexplored opportunities, channels and avenues.
- Report on investment performance dips in a timely fashion to ensure appropriate action for optimal portfolio performance.
- Forecast cash flow requirements to ensure excess funds are invested in approved investments and are available as and when required for other operations.
Operations
- Prepare timely, consistent, and accurate returns applicable to the SACCO in line with requirements of the relevant legislation and other statutory requirements.
- Implement, without delay, all recommendations from the government regulatory bodies, the ExCo, External Audit Reports, and Consultants based on agreements arrived at with the ExCo.
- Lead the efforts to digitize the SACCO’s operations by exploring opportunities in the areas of communication, data management, artificial intelligence and product delivery.
- Ensure that all necessary financial and operation documentation is well maintained, adequately secured, easily retrievable and available for audit and other review purposes.
- Identify the need for additions or amendments to SACCO policies or procedures and formulate them for approval by the ExCo/SupCo.
- Prepare all official correspondence from the SACCO and obtain approval from the ExCo.
- Lead the SACCO’s Human Resource function and the overall staff welfare program.
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish good working relations with the SACCO’s primary external partners (bankers, auditors, regulators and suppliers) to support the growth of the institution and minimize any compliance or operational challenges.
Executive and Supervisory Committee Support
- Update the ExCo on changes in legislation or regulations that may affect business operations.
- Provide support to the ExCo in the organization of all ExCo and Sub-Committee meetings, Annual and Special General meetings, and Supervisory Committee (SupCo) meetings, as and when required.
- Keep and maintain minutes of all General Meetings as well as ExCo, SupCo and sub-committee meetings.
Product Development and Innovation
- Develop and propose new product ideas based on member needs, market trends, and technological advancements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required / Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- 2-3 years of work experience
- Experience in a client service role
Desirable
- Experience in the financial services sector
- Professional Accounting qualification (CPA or ACCA) or other certification from a recognized body.
