1). Corporate Client Group Head

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • To formulate and position the client group, segment and sectors strategies for the franchise and the growth management of the client group/segments and sectors through multiple value chains, operating models and frameworks in a broadly defined organisational strategy in order to position and enable integrated horizontal alignment, implementation and adoption of the client group, segment and sector strategies.
  • To lead the identification of client group, segments and sector opportunities to increase revenue and improve efficiency. To work with the client group, segment and sectors teams to develop and construct models and simulations to predict likely outcomes for various potential scenarios that grow the franchise globally.
  • Develop and formulate medium – long term growth strategies and objectives, anticipating the future across a range of aspects and communicate a meaningful strategic context that articulates multi functional purpose, vision and mission in support of overall strategic objectives.
  • Establish functional revenue targets and identify and pursue opportunities to increase financial revenue in area of accountability
  • Represent market viewpoint upward and laterally to the larger organisations in order to ensure alignment with the rest of the organization
  • Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with relevant peers and stakeholders in order to achieve productivity synergies
  • Ensure that multi functional strategies are adequately budgeted for through the development and implementation of suitable budgets and monitor and track expenditure to maximise cost benefit ratios of multiple functional value chains, increasing stakeholder value
  • Develop a multi functional operating model and align associated value chains to organisational objectives in partnership with relevant stakeholders

2). Business Development Manager

Location: Lagos

  • Purpose:The primary focus of the Business Development role is to drive sales, grow assets under management, build and retain clients to improve the organisations market position. The Business Development personnel will identify business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals, maintain extensive knowledge of the financial market and current market trends, and contribute to the design of the distribution strategy.
  • They will work closely with the product development team, investment team, marketing team and other internal teams to increase sales opportunities. They will represent the voice of the Client internally and share market intelligence and client feedback for the development and enhancement of products and services. The Business Development Staff will play a significant role in the integration of technology.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Generates sales by growing assets under management
  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business, prepare proposals and make presentations
  • Maintain the right balance of assets under management across products to achieve the organisation’s objectives
  • Increase Client’s wallet share by marketing an array of products and services that meet Client needs
  • Expand and enhance the distribution strategy both in existing and new markets
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customers’ needs
  • Develop and sponsor initiatives that will drive increased revenues and profitability in line with the firm’s risk appetite and financial objectives
  • Actively participate in product strategy and development in conjunction with Product Management and Corporate Strategy
  • Cultivate collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst team and partners
  • Understand and ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory body’s rules and ensure effective and timely resolution of any audit, compliance, or control issues arising
  • Act with integrity; due skill, care, and diligence

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in an Arts or Science or related technical fields
  • Post graduate qualification in Banking related discipline, Finance, and Management; or MBA will be advantageous
  • Experience distributing Mutual Funds, Structured Products and other asset management products
  • Registration with Nigeria’s Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Sponsored Individual is desirable
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in asset management or similar environment

3). Corporate Credit Analyst

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • To provide quantitative and qualitative assessments of the current and forecast financial strength of a portfolio of corporate clients with the aim to identify portfolio related credit risks

Responsibilities:  

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assess financial transactions, which include(s) an assessment of products (i.e. derivatives) and structures used.
  • Assess counterparty credit risk, which includes the following:
  • Assessment or understanding of the operating environment (i.e. country, industry, regulatory and legal risk) and how it impacts the risk profile of the counterparty.
  • Spreading and modelling of financial statements.
  • Analysing and interpreting financial statements.
  • Quantitative and qualitative assessment to identify and quantify the financial and business risks of the counterparty.
  • Assign credit ratings to counterparties by using internally approved rating methodologies and models.
  • Write credit reports and prepare credit applications and financial models to be presented to the relevant   committees.
  • Present credit applications and reports to various credit committees and forums.
  • Monitor financial covenants and financial risks for credit reporting.
  • Ongoing evaluation and monitoring of counterparties and facilities.
  • Ongoing monitoring and management of portfolio, which include making recommendations and/or providing input to further develop the bank’s lending policy.
  • Liaise with various business units, divisions and subsidiaries within the FirstRand Banking Group.Interact with clients.

Qualifications and Experience:  

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A tertiary education with a financial background, with a minimum Second-Class Upper division or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of credit analysis experience, preferably within a large financial institution or five year’s experience in financial markets in a consulting/auditing capacity.
  • Modelling, assessing or advising on financial and business risks should form part of this experience.
  • A sound understanding of Treasury and Financial Markets products (i.e., derivatives) is required.

Technical Skills and General Competencies:

  • General knowledge of practical economics relating to business, industry and the Nigerian macro-economic environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Companies Act, Commercial Law, legal issues relating to security, exchange control and other relevant legislation or regulatory requirements, including IFRS, Basle II and III.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the taxation of companies, financial institutions and shareholders.
  • Good understanding of financial instruments products (i.e., derivatives) and markets.
  • A good understanding of credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing.

Ability to quickly gain proficiency in the following areas:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of specific operating environments (i.e., country, industry, regulatory and legal risk) and how it could impact on the risk profile of the counterparty and specific transactions.
