Job Purpose
The revenue officer role is to participate in all aspects of patient identification, registration, processing and accounts receivable functions of the hospital. The job will entail billing, charge entry, payment posting, reconciliation and provide the ‘Premier experience’.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify eligibility, register, bill and document patients for all services issued including on the provided online platforms e.g. SLADE, SMART, LCT, SHA, MTIBA.
- Safeguard and manage the cash and cash equivalents for accuracy of transactions and billing.
- Document refunds for overpaid accounts and follow up for such funds to be paid back to the correct payer in a timely manner.
- Ensure daily real-time updates of all inpatient services to ensure that all bills are accurate and that all charges have been accurately posted to the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) at any given point in time to ensure reliable interim and final bills.
- Ensure all requisite IP documentation is available before, on, or during admission, and that all necessary admission procedures have been duly followed according to specific requirements of different insurance companies and for cash-paying clients, including consents and payment commitments.
- Ensuring the discharge procedure authorization and billing closing are followed and appropriate approval is obtained within agreed TAT.
- Serve and protect the hospital’s image by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and excellent customer experience for the clients·
- Ensuring that all the insurance company requirements are met before claims are submitted
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelors of Business administration, Commerce or any related.
- Certified Public Accountant is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years working experience preferably in a healthcare set-up.
- Computer literate.
