Position: Resident Engineer
Contract Type: Freelance
Contract Duration: 17 Months
Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Resident Engineer to oversee the day-to-day activities of a construction site during the construction period. The Resident Engineer will act as the consultant’s on-site representative, ensuring that all works align with the design, specifications, and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide directions and instructions to the contractor or foreman-in-charge regarding the interpretation of tender instructions, drawings, specifications, or bill of quantities.
- Act as the Architect’s on-site representative, issuing instructions as authorized.
- Maintain the site diary, documenting daily activities and events.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Serve as a point of contact for all site-related matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be a Registered Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, or Geo-technical Engineer with a degree in the relevant field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of cumulative experience in building and civil engineering construction works after registration.
- Proven track record of serving in a similar capacity on at least two (2) building projects of similar magnitude and complexity within the last 10 years.
- Participation in at least one World Bank/Development Partner project, with supporting documentation of actual involvement.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili, with strong communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- The Resident Engineer will be engaged for a 17-month contract and is expected to operate under the consultant’s guidance, ensuring that site operations meet the highest professional standards.
