The Nairobi Bariatric Center, a leading weight management facility in East Africa, is at the forefront of combining medical and psychotherapeutic approaches for sustainable weight loss. With over 20 years of experience, our center pioneers innovative techniques, including bariatric surgeries and the patented Psychological Correction of Eating Habits (PCEH) method, developed by Dr. L. Shchukina and Assoc. Prof. Varaksin.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Independent Researcher to lead a study titled:

“A Comparative Analysis of the Effectiveness of Bariatric Procedures versus a Combination of Bariatric Procedures and PCEH in Weight Loss: A Case Study of Patients at the Nairobi Bariatric Center.”

The research will evaluate the efficacy of combining advanced bariatric procedures with the scientifically proven PCEH method in promoting sustainable weight loss.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and execute a mixed-methods research framework.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from patient records, interviews, and surveys.
  • Conduct a comprehensive literature review and integrate findings into the study.
  • Develop, test, and refine research tools, including demographic questionnaires and semi-structured interviews.
  • Perform statistical analyses (e.g., ANOVA, descriptive, and inferential analysis).
  • Draft manuscripts and reports for internal use and potential publication.
  • Regularly update and collaborate with the internal team, incorporating feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards in research and data handling.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Public Health, Psychology, Medical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Proven experience conducting independent research.
  • Strong knowledge of research methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in software such as SPSS, R, or equivalent for data analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or clinical research is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with bariatric procedures and behavioral psychology.
  • Experience managing large datasets and complex research projects.
  • Knowledge of the PCEH method or similar psychotherapeutic approaches is an advantage.
