RESEARCH OFFICER (TEMPORARY ROLE)

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body, established in 1996 by the Capital
Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) as amended, to promote, develop and regulate the capital markets
industry. CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning
and Economic Development.
The CMA is mandated by law to:
 Approve prospectuses and other offering documents under which securities are offered to the
public.
 Develop the capital markets through removal of impediments and the creation of incentives
for longer term investments in productive enterprises.
 Create, maintain and regulate a market in which securities can be issued and traded in an
orderly, fair and efficient manner.
 Cooperate with, any foreign regulatory authority in the performance of its duties;
 Implement regional and international standards and best practice in securities markets, securities
regulation and supervision.
 Protect investors; and
 Operate an investor compensation fund.
The work of the CMA is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009 and the
Collective Investment Schemes Act, 2003.
To deliver on its mandate efficiently and effectively, CMA is seeking to hire a qualified and self-
motivated individual to fill the position of a Research Officer on a temporary basis.

Job Title: RESEARCH OFFICER
Duration: Up to three (3) months
Reports To: DIRECTOR RESEARCH & MARKET DEVELOPMENT
Job Purpose The Temporary Research Officer will undertake a project to fast-track
the implementation of actions in the Capital Markets Development
Master Plan.

Responsibilities /Key
Deliverables
1. Evaluate the progress of actions under the 10-Year Capital
Markets Development Master Plan.
2. Identify bottlenecks, risks, and challenges in implementation
and propose actionable solutions.
3. Analyze data to assess the impact of implemented actions and
provide evidence-based recommendations.
4. Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations
for senior management and stakeholders to enhance the pace
of implementation for actions in the master plan.
5. Work closely with government agencies, industry participants,
and international organizations to foster collaboration and
ensure successful implementation of actions in the master plan.
6. Provide strategic insights to guide decision-making and ensure
the master plan is fully implemented.
7. Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and
performance indicators.
Person Specification
Education & Training A degree from a recognized institution/university in Economics,
Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration (Finance) or any other
related subject.
Skills & Experience At least three (3) years’ relevant work experience preferably in the
capital markets industry and with broad knowledge or interest in
capital markets.
