Purpose of position:

The Research Assistant will administer the endpoint survey including Hypertension and HIV screening at household level and refer eligible participants to the public Health facilities.

Job description:

  • Obtaining consent from heads of households and parents/guardians of children before any study procedures are conducted.
  • Accurately administer electronic endpoint questionnaires to study participants ensuring that study data are collected and case report forms are filled as per protocol.
  • Conduct HIV and Hypertension counselling and screening in a rural community setting.
  • Obtain blood samples from study participants and prepare them for transportation.
  • Referral of study participants to public health facilities for hypertension, and HIV prevention and treatment services.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor within your area of work.

Qualification Required

  • A Diploma in Nursing or midwifery or clinical medicine from a recognized institution and licensed by the responsible authority.
  • Should have good knowledge of research ethics and possess a certificate in Good Clinical Practice.
  • Should be fluent in Runyankole/Rukiga and/or Luganda.
  • Should possess excellent computer (Microsoft office) skills.
  • Highly flexible and willing to work in multiple study communities in a rural setting.
