Job Title: Renal Nurse

Job Overview:
Southrift Hospital is looking for a professional, goal oriented, organized, reliable and self-driven Renal Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure an outstanding patient experience while providing the highest quality Pharmacy services.
Job Description:
• Provide hemodialysis treatments to patients, closely monitoring their vital signs, and administering medications as prescribed.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care and patient safety
• Conducts pre and post dialysis patient assessment and patient discharge
- • Review doctor’s prescription for dialysis patients, collects pretreatment dialysis data, and reviews patient records prior to dialysis.
• Documenting and recording patient treatment data.
• Preparation of daily and monthly dialysis reports
• Provides patient and family education applicable to the patients medical condition
• Ensure proper records recording and safe keeping of patient’s records
• Ensure patients safety following the 6 International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs)
• Submit all new drug orders to pharmacy promptly and proper management of renal stock inventory.
• Preparation of the dialysis delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer and confirms that all mandatory alarm tests on the dialysis equipment are performed.
• Ensure financial objectives are met by managing costs within budget, timely and accurate billing of medication and services in the HMIS.
• Ensure compliance with all systems, policies and procedures as outlined in the Hospital Manuals, nursing and renal unit standard operating procedures and policies pertaining to provision of medical services, admission & discharge procedures, nurses’ reports, ward equipment and supplies, emergency protocols etc.
• Document and report all incidents/events and report within 24 hours using the provided tools.
• Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity.
• Keep D.D.A. drugs safe and maintain the DDA drug register properly per unit requirements
• Offering quality care to patients and ensuring patient satisfaction.
• Liaise with the Nurse in charge to fully implement internal audit recommendations and attain satisfactory ratings in subsequent audits.
• Adhere to Government and respective professional standards of care and treatment of patients as guided by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by your immediate supervisor.
Academic and professional qualifications:
• A Higher Nursing Diploma, Nephrology
• A Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN)
• A valid Nursing Council License
• ACLS/BLS training will be an added advantage
• Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience as a renal nurse preferably in a private hospital set up
• Commitment to providing high quality care and excellence.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English & Kiswahili.
