Role Description
The Full-time Project Officer will be responsible for overseeing various projects and ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and budget. The Project Officer will collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to identify project requirements, resources, and deliverables. The role requires on-site attendance and is based in Nairobi County, Kenya.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders (project sponsors, business analysts, developers, etc.) to define project scope, objectives, and timelines.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including detailed tasks, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
- Monitor project progress against plans and identify and address any potential issues or roadblocks proactively.
- Manage project resources effectively and efficiently.
- Communicate project updates to stakeholders regularly and clearly.
- Facilitate project meetings and ensure effective collaboration among team members.
- Contribute to the development of project documentation such as reports, plans, and presentations.
- Possess a strong understanding of fintech products and solutions relevant to the projects assigned.
- Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work with developers and other technical teams to implement project solutions.
- Conduct system testing and ensure quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during project execution.
- Maintain system documentation and configuration files.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Build strong relationships with team members and external partners.
- Actively listen to feedback and address concerns promptly.
- Present project information clearly and concisely in meetings and reports.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in project management and fintech.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes within the department.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Software/Business preferred or equivalent experience in project management.
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing software implementations, with a focus on financial technology (FinTech) projects.
- Relevant industry certifications (PMP, Microsoft, ITIL).
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects within budget and timeline constraints.
- Strong understanding of FinTech products, systems, and processes.
- Experience with enterprise integrations and data management solutions.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive project plans.
- Proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Effective resource allocation and task management.
- Clear communication and reporting to stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills to engage clients.
- Adaptability and flexibility in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to travel for project requirements.
