BACKGROUND
Amref Health Africa was founded in 1957 and has since grown to become the largest African-based international
health development organisation; currently implementing more than 180 programs, reaching more than 40
million people across 35 African countries; and a staff complement of over 2,000. Headquartered in Nairobi,
Kenya, Amref Health Africa has offices in ten countries in Africa – Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Guinea (Conakry),
Kenya, Malawi, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. An additional eleven advocacy and
fundraising offices are located in Europe and North America.

JOB PURPOSE
The Project Associate will provide technical expertise and support in implementation of Amref Global Fund
Malaria project activities. S/he will lead in the process of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
of all project Social Behaviour Change (SBC) activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project coordination
• Participate in coordination, design, planning and implementation of project activities
• Provide technical support in the implementation of malaria social behaviour change activities
• Represent the project in various technical working groups (including SBC) at various levels to
strengthen networks and partnerships
• Monthly review of sub-recipients (SRs) programmatic reports and providing timely feedback
and follow ups
• Participate in managing relevant project financial transactions
2. Capacity building
• Participate in capacity building sub-recipients on SBC activities, advocacy with religious and
community leaders to create an enabling environment for practice of malaria behaviours, as
applicable
• Identify gaps during implementation and monthly reports review.

3. Technical support
• Lead implementation of social behaviour change in collaboration with National Malaria Control
Program, County/Sub County CHMTs, Facilities, Community Health Promoters, Community
Groups and other relevant partners.
• Provide technical support to sub-recipients to ensure quality implementation of project
activities
• Provide technical support in the development and writing of new concepts and proposals for
fundraising
4. Documentation and research
• Documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt and best practices during project activities
implementation.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
• Participate in monitoring and mentoring of sub-recipients and providing technical support and
capacity development to plan, implement, monitor and report on grants awarded.
• Prepare and submit timely and quality activity reports, including field notes and success
stories, to effectively capture lessons learnt on the ground from the project.
• Participate in preparation of donor reports, annual work plans, budgets, M&E plans and
performance frameworks, monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project as per
donor requirements
• Participate in monitoring the implementation of project activities to ensure conformance to
project objectives, work plans, budget and expected results.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field with at least 3 years’ work experience in advocacy, social
behaviour changes and/or community mobilization.
• Experience in malaria programs will be an added advantage.
