We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified person to fill the position of Project
Accountant:

Job Summary
The Project Accountant will provide support in the implementation of conservation work under the guidance of the
Senior Accountant while working closely with the Grants and CSO Partnership Manager and the project
implementing team.
In this regard, the Project Accountant will:
• Carry out financial accounting (data capture in ERP, payment processing, Account reconciliations etc.)
• Project planning and management (proposal budget; project budget reviews and re-forecasts; project cash
flow management.
• Project monitoring and reporting- (periodic donor reports, donor audit exercise management; action planning
and follow up of project audit recommendations; field monitoring; capacity building for project staff and
partners; project close out action plan etc.
• Monitor project fund flows, prepare calls for funds from donors as per agreed schedules and follow up with
respective donors for fund remittances.
• Controlling and processing advance payments to staff, implementing partners, statutory bodies and other
third parties through the online bank payment platforms, cash and cheques as may be appropriate.
• Coordinate project specific compliance and annual audit processes as per donor agreements.
• Ensure that all financial activities comply with WWF’s policies, donor requirements, and relevant laws and
regulations. Lead and guide teams on project close-out financial processes for ending projects as per close-
out guidelines in the donor agreements.

• Work closely with the project implementation teams to identify and report to management on risks that affect
effective project delivery.
• Work with the Senior Accountant to manage the entire Project audit process. This includes both external and
internal audits. Plan meetings, provide information, and gather the required documents for the auditors.
• Prepare and develop an action plan in response to audit findings in collaboration with the Project management
team.
• Work closely with the Senior Accountant and Project Manager to ensure audit recommendations are
addressed timely as per agreed audit action plan.
• Hold regular training sessions for project staff and partners on financial management policies covering donor
rules and relevant country laws to enable them to understand how these rules affect financial processes in the
office.
• Conduct financial monitoring of partners.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field is required, with at least three years of
progressively responsible professional experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international environment
such as an NGO or donor-funded project. A full accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an added advantage.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly advanced MS Excel skills, and have
experience using ERP systems. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in multicultural
environments, and the capacity to establish priorities, meet tight timelines, and multitask are essential. The role
requires excellent communication skills in spoken and written English, a high level of resilience, and the ability to
work independently with minimal supervision. High ethical standards, transparency, and accountability are mandatory,
