PROGRAMMES OFFICER – CAPACITY AND SYSEMS STRENGTHENING

The purpose of this job is to ensure effective and efficient capacity-strengthening support for KCDF staff and its community partners (Diverse Civil Society Organizations in Kenya).
The job holder specializes in Organizational Development and Capacity Strengthening and should be a well-rounded professional with expertise in training, program management, stakeholder
engagement, and strategic planning.

They must be skilled in assessing organizational needs, designing tailored solutions, and facilitating processes that strengthen an organization’s ability to achieve its objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Program Administration:
• The job holder will undertake collective and lead roles in supporting KCDFs organizationwide Capacity and Systems Strengthening interventions targeting diverse Civil Society
actors (CSAs), i.e., PBOs/NGOs, CBOs, Societies, and Social Enterprises.
• Support the Coordination and delivery of capacity and systems strengthening development
support for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in various areas of organizational
development and financial resilience.
• Support identifying and selecting partners to enhance their skills and capacity, utilizing
experiential blended learning methods such as online learning, face-to-face training,
coaching, mentorship, and exchange visits.
• Support the development and publication of capacity-building materials focused on Capacity
and Systems Strengthening, including financial resilience for diverse CSAs.
• Support the development of the online platform/portal by collaborating with domain experts
to co-create relevant content on Capacity and Systems Strengthening for diverse CSAs.
• Ability to facilitate workshops, lead training sessions, and mentor individuals or groups.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
• Ability to develop clear strategies, set objectives, and plan activities that align with KCDF
organizational goals.

2. Research, Advocacy, and resource mobilization:
• Participate in research and advocacy activities to inform organizational strategies and
initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to develop feedback
channels and generate routine project progress and impact reports, including Quarterly and Annual Programme Reports, Donor Reports, Board reports, and ad hoc reports.
• Support the development of learning modules, Terms of Reference (TOR), proposals, and policy papers as and when required.
• Skills in designing, implementing, and monitoring programs, including developing work plans, managing budgets, and ensuring timely delivery of program objectives.
• Coordinate communication between partners and facilitate forums to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
• Organize and conduct periodic training, workshops, and forums to enhance the capacity of CSOs and foster peer learning.
• Proactively explore, develop, and secure resources for the Civil Society Strengthening portfolio in collaboration with the broader KCDF management team.
• Participate in and represent KCDF at relevant forums and meetings to foster an enabling development environment and engage with relevant stakeholders such as Government officials, non-profit organizations, corporations, donors, and civil society stakeholders to learn and share KCDF accomplishments.
• Enhance the visibility of KCDF in Kenya and the East Africa region through networking, partnership mapping, and advocacy efforts; and
Any other responsibilities assigned to the jobholder by the supervisor from time to time.
