Background:
AWAFY Sudanese Organization is a youth-led non-profit and non-governmental organization.
Established in 2021, with its first office in Darfur, Zalingei. Later after the war took place in Sudan
AWAFY was registered in Uganda as an international non-profit organization.
AWAFY was founded to address the needs of Sudanese men and women concerning issues of change
Advocacy & Peace Building, development, Health, Protection, Youth & Women Empowerment, and
improving human rights conditions in Sudan. Additionally, it aims to enhance youth and women’s civic
participation. Also, AWAFY helps mitigate humanitarian disasters and crises resulting from wars.
AWAFY Successfully Implemented Several Projects Covering a Wide Range of Topics. During our
journey of serving local communities, AWAFY was pleased to collaborate with local and international
institutions.
Job Summary:
The objective of this internship is to provide the intern with practical experience in program
management while supporting the effective delivery of AWAFY’s projects. The intern will
assist the Program Management team in various tasks, contributing to the successful execution
of our projects.
Key duties & Responsibilities
1. Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of program activities.
2. Help prepare and maintain project documentation, including work plans, budgets, and progress reports.
3. Support the development of project proposals and funding applications.
4. Assist in monitoring ongoing projects, including data collection and analysis.
5. Assist in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups as part of program evaluation activities.
6. Draft and edit reports, presentations, and communication materials for internal and external audiences.
7. Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and events.
8. Help manage communication with project partners, donors, and stakeholders.
9. Conduct research on relevant topics, providing insights and recommendations to inform program strategies.
10. Analyze data and contribute to the identification of trends and challenges in program implementation.
11. Assist with general administrative duties, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
12. Support the organization and maintenance of project files and databases.
13. Perform other tasks related to program management as assigned by the Program Manager.
14. Any other assigned tasks.
Duration
The internship is for a period of [6 months], with a possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
Location
The intern will be based at AWAFY’s office in Kampala, Uganda, with the possibility of remote work arrangements as agreed upon with the supervisor.
Reporting
The intern will report directly to the Program Manager and work closely with other team members in the Program Management unit.
Qualifications and Skills
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in International Relations, Development, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field.
– Strong interest in program management, human rights, or international development.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
– Research and analytical skills are an asset.
– Prior experience in program management or development work is desirable but not required.
