Organization Background
Forum for African Women Educationalists – Kenya Chapter (FAWEK) is a Non-Governmental Organization
registered in 1996 under section 10 of the NGO Coordination Act, Laws of Kenya; and a member of the
FAWE network of 34 Chapters in 33 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. FAWEK’s vision is to have a just and
inclusive society where gender parity and equality in education and training prevail, and the mission is to
support girls and women in the acquisition of quality education and training for sustainable development.
FAWE Kenya aims to ensure that Kenyan girls receive quality education for equal chances in life through
championing girls’ enrolment, retention, performance, and completion in school.

ROLE PROFILE
FAWE KENYA is seeking dedicated and efficient Program Interns to support its dynamic team in the
delivery of high-quality projects. The Program Interns will play a crucial role in coordinating project
elements, assisting with planning and implementation, and ensuring seamless communication across the
organization. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a stimulating, supportive

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects activities.
• Support program coordinators in organizing events, workshops, and training sessions.
• Conduct research and gather data on program and project impact and effectiveness.
• Help in preparing concept notes, programmes, reports, presentations, and communication
materials.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to enhance program outreach and impact.
• Any other duty assigned by the Program/ Project Officer and/or CEO.

Preferred Qualifications
I. A Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Sciences, Project Management, International
Affairs/Relations, International Development Studies, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related
field.
II. Prior experience in program management, preferably in an education or non-profit organization is an
added advantage.
III. Strong advocacy and communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media
engagement.
IV. Financial management skills, including budgeting and financial reporting.
V. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc., as well as other relevant
software.

Terms and Conditions:.
I. Full-time position with 8.00 a.m -5.00 p.m working hours.
II. The position is based in Nairobi with frequent travel to the target counties.
III. Candidates for internships at FAWE Kenya must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or
postgraduate degree program at a recognized educational institution OR have completed a course of
study and have been awarded an undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate degree at a recognized
educational institution within the past year. If candidates are recent graduates, they will be expected
to start the internship within 12 months of their date of graduation.

II. Ability to convey ideas and thoughts in a clear and convincing way in one-on-one discussions or
groups presentations and ability to produce clear correspondence and written reports.
III. Ability to effectively apply their knowledge and skills to the job, and to consistently learn and
improve performance.
IV. Ability to show initiative and enthusiasm in their work, effectively organize and manage time, and
deliver high-quality results in line with agreed objectives.
V. Ability to innovate and find new ways of working and improving results while maintaining a strong

VI. Ability to take ownership of assigned responsibilities, be productive, fulfill commitments, and
use resources responsibly.

Additional Information:
I. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the date of application and have a working
knowledge (both oral and written) of at least one of Kenya’s official languages (English and
Swahili) required in the office of internship.
II. Candidates should be holders of a valid passport/ID of Kenya. Persons with immediate family
members employed by FAWE Kenya and or FAWE Regional Secretariat (e.g. son/daughter,
brother/sister, or mother/father) are not eligible for internships. Successful applicants must
disclose any potential points of conflict of interest e.g.,relatives working for or affiliated with FAWE
Kenya.
Eligibility Criteria
I. Must be a citizen of Kenya.
II. Willingness to provide a valid Certificate of Good Conduct if successful.
III. Graduates from Arid, Semi-Arid, and Fragile contexts are encouraged to apply.
