Organizational Context: Every Child Ministries (ECM) is a ChristianInternational NGO. Since 1985, ECM has worked tirelessly to bring hope, help, and dignity to children and their families in the name of Jesus. We are a holistic Organization seeking to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the vulnerable, broken, and outcast.
Position Summary: The Program Coordinator will support and work closely with the Program Manager to coordinate day to day operations of the Program Office. In support of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will have a significant role in coordinating and ensuring that the delivery of the Program is in line with the ECM objectives; ensuring Program systems are set up and maintained appropriately. In addition to all the work-related tasks outlined below, the Program Coordinator shall be the spiritual head at the Program office. The Program Coordinator must be a mature Christian, able to effectively lead staff and beneficiaries in matters of faith as well as ministry.
Key Responsibility Areas
Program Management:
- Contribute to the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the Program to achieve the defined Program objectives;
- Ensure programme implementation is responsive to the needs and aspirations of Program Participants as in line with ECM values, strategic plan, and other guidelines and procedures.
- Provide technical advice, support and links to the Program Manager and the Management team particularly in the design of activities and in developing partner and target group relationships.
- Contribute to monitoring of Program activities and to documentation of impact and learning together with the Program Manager;
- Work with the Country Director and Program Manager to develop, approve, monitor and update MoUs between ECM and partners.
- Organize and facilitate Program events (including Saturday club meetings and family visits) and activities as per work plans. This includes active involvement in planning and facilitating at meetings, workshop and training courses, and related Program platforms.
- Carry on any other roles.
External Engagement and Communication:
- Support the Program Manager with engagement and accountability to the Country Director, and stand in for the Program Manager in this relationship as required.
- Build effective working relationships with program stakeholders, engaging them at each stage, ensuring communications have appropriate content and tone.
- Represent ECM Uganda in engagement with key regional stakeholders including governance institutions and civil society networks to ensure support for the Program as required.
- Anticipate program risks and issues, communicate them to Management and stakeholders, taking action to resolve.
- Establish and maintain up-to-date key program stakeholders’ contacts at Local and Central Government levels in the program area and the country at large.
- Popularize and enhance program visibility to all program stakeholders at the Local, District, and National level.
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Support the Program Manager to ensure that the Program expenditure conforms to the Program Annual budget and remains within agreed limits;
- Support the Program Manager with identifying and formulating any necessary revisions and approval from Country Director before implementation;
- Ensure compliance to adequate financial management and accounting systems as required by the Financial Policy Manual and guidelines.;
- Compile and prepare periodic Program and financial reports.
Safeguarding:
We are committed to ensuring that we are a safe Organisation, delivering safe programmes that ensure that we do no harm to the people we work with. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, this role like all at ECM, will also have specific responsibilities relating to safeguarding:
- Ensure familiarity, and compliance with, ECM Uganda’s Safeguarding Policy and undertake training as required;
- Contribute to creating and maintaining an environment that prevents safeguarding violations and promotes the implementation of ECM Uganda’s policy;
- Report any concerns or suspicions regarding safeguarding violations by an ECM staff member or associated personnel to the focal person or appropriate Government reporting channels;
- Ensure that all stakeholders are fully briefed on ECM Uganda’s safeguarding policies and procedures, including reporting mechanisms;
- Responsible for ensuring ECM implements safe programmes including identifying areas of need for adaptation in the design and implementation of projects.
- Provide advice and guidance to other members of staff, contractors, partners, people in our projects (i.e. direct beneficiaries and caregivers as appropriate), or the general public (as appropriate) on issues of safeguarding.
Education & Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Works, Child Development, Ministry Leadership, Development Studies or related field.
- Basic knowledge of accounting, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is an added advantage.
Personal Competencies:
- At least 3 years relevant working experience in a similar Organization;
- Commitment to lead by example following the Christian Faith and living a life that honors Jesus Christ;
- Must commit to love the children and families under the care of ECM.

- Must be self-driven with ability to work under pressure and minimal supervision;

- Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records;
- Ability to organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Fluency in English;
- Legal Resident of Uganda with Authorization to Work.
