Opportunity
Pharo School Nairobi is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Procurement Officer to manage our procurement activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing high-quality goods and services in a timely, cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures. This role offers the opportunity to support the school’s operational needs while fostering strong supplier relationships and contributing to efficient procurement strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and invitations to bid.
- Evaluate supplier proposals and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain positive relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications for goods and services.
- Manage procurement budgets and ensure adherence to financial controls.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier performance.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on procurement processes and best practices.
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and emerging suppliers.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management in line with operational needs.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in a similar procurement role.
- Strong understanding of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act.
- Proficiency in procurement processes, contract management, and stock management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a dynamic environment.
