Port Operations Officer

SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for a Port Operations Officer to join its work force in Nigeria. His responsibilities shall include:

  • To be the focal point of all Agents activities at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT)
  • To liaise with Port Operators in all COMPANY shipping interest – viz Intels, BRAWAL, NPA, OGFZA, Customs etc
  • To participate in all pre-cargo discharge meetings ahead of berthing with port operators and shippers’ agents.
  • To assist, maintain & register equipment deployed for operations by port operators, and sign-off related Job-sheets.
  • To ensure all key transaction elements, Customs documentation of all cleared cargoes are maintained.
  • To liaise with Operations Personnel at Onne and provide appropriate Customs clearance documents on demand.
  • Assist and maintain an efficient container tracking system with all parties for the control of demurrage.
  • To liaise with Head of Yards for stacking spaces prior to the arrival of vessels with COMPANY cargoes.
  • To ensure deliveries are made promptly, maintain/dispatch copies of waybills, and ensure transfers to the warehouse receiving section.
  • To assist & ensure correct delineation of cargoes awaiting Customs examination/inspection.
  • To ensure that delivery documents are dispatched promptly for data updates and PO file closures.
  • Supervise and take reports of activities of our marine cargo surveyors for insurance purposes
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with our HSE policy
  • Report weekly & monthly activities carried out at Onne FLT port.
  • Shipping Rep in charge of OML58 Materials at Onne.
  • Shipping Rep in charge of OFON PHASE II Materials at Onne.
  • Liaising with Operations personnel at Onne and providing appropriate customs clearance documents on demand.
  • Managing Excel file of Onne Transit delivery update.
  • Ensuring of proper documentations of shipping documents.
  • To review the shipping documents received from the freight forwarder in accordance with the statutory requirement.
  • Ensure that HS code of each line item is stated on the commercial invoice
  • To ensure that appropriate packing of all COMPANY cargoes.
  • To ensure that shipments are consolidated before it has been shipped.
  • To secure valid import authorization documentation (FORM M)
  • To provide necessary documents to the customs clearing Agent.
  • To coordinate Customs clearing processes and delivery of material.
  • Any other activity or Service function assigned by the Manager of the Department.

Profile

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Graduate in Management or Social Sciences with at least 5 years’ experience in shipping and Port Operations.
  • Knowledge of SAP, MS Excel, MS word, Power Point
  • HND/PGD – Qualifications
