Job Purpose
The Plant Manager will manage and co-ordinate manufacturing operations (people, plant, process, and systems) to fulfil production plans and assure highest quality standards at optimal cost for the companys products.
The Plant/Project Manager will develop plans for infrastructure, capacity and resources needed to fulfill the demands for our products; and drive continuous improvement of processes, productivity, and efficiency in the plant.
Key Job Roles & Responsibilities
1. PLANT SYSTEMS & PROCESSES MANAGEMENT
- Ensure conformance to Food and Beverage Legislation, Company Manufacturing Standards, ISO certification, Manufacturing Best Practices, and other internal and external regulatory compliance.
- Establish, monitor, and reinforce control across the whole plant as pertains to Labour, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance and Health &Safety.
- Manage maintenance systems integrity.
- Assess, develop, and optimise manufacturing systems and process capability.
- Actively participate in development and implementation of company’s manufacturing strategy.
2. PRODUCTIVITY & PERFOMANCE MANAGEMENT
- Develop business plans providing productivity improvement and stretched targets for cost efficiency.
- Actively participate and ensure the implementation of various infrastructure or process optimization projects in the plant.
- Develop reliable management routines and procedures for optimal productivity and performance.
- Prepare, present, and interpret Manufacturing KPI’s, make recommendations which result in increased productivity and efficiency; reduce cost and improve customer satisfaction while following production plans.
- Understand and control main cost drivers in Manufacturing.
- OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY, RISK AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
- Ensure health and safety of all employees in the plant and create a safety-first work culture.
- Ensure Environment Policy is strictly followed, and environmental culture and mindset is entrenched across the business units.
4. WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT
- Build team’s capabilities through implementation of training and development programs.
- Develop unit capabilities to achieve maximum utilization of technology and equipment.
- Ensure a healthy industrial relation climate.
- Build and establish productive relationships with team, internal and external stakeholders.
- Lives and promotes company values and culture and helps employees to understand and embrace them.
- Manage own performance and that of team.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate closely with HQ-Projects on implementing new projects such as new bottling lines and common facilities, installation/rehabilitation of machines, overhauling projects, and new manufacturing plants.
Experience & Academic Requirements
- HND or bachelors degree in engineering or related any other discipline.
- 8 -10 years of cognate experience in driving high performing alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrable experience in bottling operations and technologies: Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Environment, Engineering, Health & Safety.
