Key Requirements:
- Diploma in Optometry.
- Licensed Optometrist with the Optometrists’ Association of Kenya.
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Good communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Eye Refraction: Perform eye refractions to determine visual acuity.
- Clinical Functions: Conduct all clinical tasks associated with an Ophthalmic Optometrist.
- Examinations: Use observation, instruments, and pharmaceutical agents to examine eyes, determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination, and diagnose diseases and abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.
- Prescriptions: Prescribe lenses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
- Patient Education: Educate and counsel patients on prescription lens needs, visual hygiene, and other factors pertaining to glasses..
- Consultations and Referrals: Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare practitioners when additional medical treatment is necessary.
