Nurse Midwife

Malaica is a Kenyan-based startup on a strong mission: Making Pregnancy safe and convenient for Millions! Based on a successful launch phase we are further strengthening our team. Therefore, we are looking for a full time nurse midwife to support mums in Kibera under the Britam Foundation.

Responsibilities

As a Malaica Nurse Midwife you will provide online coaching to pregnant women, and make sure that they are following the Kenyan ANC and PNC guidelines.

You will be responsible for a group of pregnant women, and support them from the beginning of pregnancy until the baby is six months old. You will support them to select a good facility for their ANC/PNC visits and for delivery, provide educational insights, support them in case of questions and issues, and make sure they get the care they need to have a safe pregnancy.

You will be supported by a team of highly qualified medical and tech experts to make your work efficient and enjoyable.

Requirements

  • Shared vision: Massively reducing maternal and neonatal mortality makes you excited. You love the idea of supporting Kenyan women throughout their pregnancy journey.
  • Ambitious: You are an ambitious individual dedicated to delivering high-quality health education and creating a significant impact. You consistently go the extra mile to achieve these goals.
  • Education: You are a registered nurse according to Kenyan laws and regulations. You are a curious person and a fast learner.
  • Experience: You have solid work experience in Kibera as a nurse midwife. You know what it means to provide quality care to pregnant women – be it in terms of ANC, delivery or PNC.
  • Technology: You are open to innovation and technology. You are a well-versed user of smartphone apps. You own a personal laptop and know how to work with Google documents.
  • Empathic: You are a good listener and a good communicator. You like to work both with pregnant women as well as with other members of the Malaica team.

Qualifications

Midwifery training-KRCHN/ BSC Nursing/ Masters Midwifery

Being a resident of Kibera is an added plus!
