
Job Description: Part-Time Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

Position Summary
Smart Girls Uganda is seeking a part-time Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to lead the development and implementation of M&E frameworks, track impact, and provide data-driven insights to improve our programs. The officer will work closely with the programs team to ensure effective data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning.
Key Responsibilities
1. M&E Framework Development:
Design and implement M&E systems to track program outcomes and impact.
Develop performance indicators and data collection tools.
Ensure alignment with donor reporting requirements and organizational goals.
2. Data Collection & Analysis:
Conduct baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
Collect quantitative and qualitative data from beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Analyze data to generate actionable insights and inform decision-making.
3. Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare M&E reports, success stories, and impact assessments.
Assist in compiling reports for donors, partners, and stakeholders.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of program achievements.
4. Capacity Building & Learning:
Train program staff on M&E tools and best practices.
Facilitate learning sessions to improve program effectiveness.
Support adaptive programming based on M&E findings.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Work with program teams, beneficiaries, and external partners to enhance M&E activities.
Represent Smart Girls Uganda in M&E-related forums when needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in M&E, preferably in NGOs or social enterprises.
Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and visualization (Excel, Power BI, or other M&E tools).
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a part-time role.
Passion for gender equality, youth empowerment, and vocational training.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with human-centered design (HCD) approaches.
Knowledge of Uganda’s vocational training and youth development landscape.
Experience working with donor-funded projects and impact measurement.
Working Hours & Compensation
Part-time: Estimated 15-20 hours per week (flexible, with occasional field visits).
Compensation: Competitive and based on experience.
