The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is the apex body for the private sector in Kenya. KEPSA brings together local and foreign business associations, federations, chambers of commerce, professional bodies that are sectoral umbrella bodies and individual sectoral business membership organizations, corporates, from multinationals to large and medium-sized companies, SMEs, and start-ups from all sectors of the economy, across all parts of the country. This gives KEPSA a reach of over 2 million businesses directly and indirectly. KEPSA also serves as the national focal point of the East Africa Business Council (EABC), the umbrella body of businesses in East Africa. It hosts the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Kenya Chapter, a member of the ICC with a reach of over 45 million businesses globally.
Position Summary
The Marketing and Membership Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership for marketing and member services, member intelligence and insights. The holder of this role is tasked with developing marketing and membership strategies to grow membership, enhancing member experiences, and ensuring that the membership programs/initiatives support the overall goals and mission of KEPSA. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, excellent communication & leadership skills, and ability to analyze data to drive improvements in marketing and membership services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of income-generating and diversification strategies to meet KEPSA’s business objectives through the Marketing and Membership team.
- Oversee marketing and membership functions, collaborating with management to develop membership programs and annual strategies.
- Expand and enhance marketing platforms for KEPSA’s products and services in local and international markets.
- Collaborate with the Thought Leadership team to conduct membership surveys, identifying suitable products and services.
- Manage all membership affairs, including the promotion of KEPSA’s products, services, and member networking events.
- Cultivate strong member relationships to drive participation in KEPSA’s events and maintain high satisfaction.
- Strengthen weak Business Membership Organizations and form new ones in necessary sectors.
- Manage marketing and membership budgets to achieve membership subscription, business delegations, and commercial advertising revenue goals, identifying new opportunities.
- Develop and implement effective membership recruitment and retention strategies to improve membership categories and revenue.
- Analyze membership profiles and trends to inform engagement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct visits to prospective members under the Know Your Customer Initiative.
- Act as the primary point of contact for member queries or complaints, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Foster strategic alliances and collaborations to support membership events.
- Oversee membership database management, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Analyze marketing and membership trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Develop marketing materials to effectively communicate KEPSA’s value proposition.
- Build a data-driven marketing culture, ensuring continuous optimization of marketing performance.
- Prepare monthly membership reports for management and relevant board committees.
- Assist in coordinating membership events, including invitations, mailings, and publicity.
- Ensure regular orientations are conducted for new members.
- Supervise and train the marketing and membership team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in marketing and membership management or related roles.
- Master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or related field.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful marketing and membership strategies.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Experience with membership databases, CRM software, and digital marketing tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
