Job Summary

The Marketing and Communications Intern will work with the CEO and the social media and content teams to assist in executing marketing strategies to raise awareness about Synnefa’s innovative solutions and engage with farmers, investors, and partners. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Social Media Management:
    • Assist in creating and posting engaging content across Synnefa’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
    • Write short blog posts, social media updates, and other content that communicates Synnefa’s value proposition to smallholder farmers and agricultural stakeholders.
    • Help develop creative marketing campaigns to raise awareness of our products and services.
  • Support Digital Marketing Campaigns:
    • Assist in the execution of digital marketing campaigns to promote Synnefa’s products such as FarmShield IoT sensors and FarmCloud software.
    • Work with the team to gather customer feedback and insights to inform content and campaign direction.
  • Event & Webinar Support:
    • Help coordinate and promote monthly webinars on FarmCloud usage, ensuring participants are well-informed and engaged.
    • Assist with the logistics of virtual and physical marketing events such as product demos and exhibitions.
  • Market Research:
    • Conduct basic research on industry trends, competitors, and customer preferences to support the development of marketing strategies.
    • Compile and present research findings to help refine Synnefa’s marketing approach.
  • Email Marketing & CRM Assistance:
    • Support the development and distribution of email marketing campaigns, such as newsletters, product updates, and promotional offers.
    • Assist with managing customer information in the CRM system, ensuring that contact lists are up-to-date.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Help track and report on the performance of social media posts, email campaigns, and other marketing activities.
    • Learn to use digital marketing tools to analyze campaign performance and suggest areas for improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Passion for agriculture, technology, and creating positive social impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an interest in learning digital marketing tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Mailchimp, etc.).
  • Proactive, creative, and eager to learn about marketing in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Basic understanding of digital marketing, social media, or email marketing.
  • Some experience with content creation (blogs, social media posts, videos).
  • Familiarity with using Canva or similar graphic design tools.

Remuneration

  • We pay our interns KES.20,000 per month.

Contract Period: 6 months.

Logistics

  • Currently, we expect all staff to be in our office or in the fields working with farmers from Monday to Friday with shifts on Saturday.
