Maintenance Planner

JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose: The summary role of the Maintenance planner is Planning, scheduling of plant equipment maintenance activities. Ensuring that the routine preventive maintenance is done and closed in SAP, Monitoring stock levels of spares on MRP. The maintenance planner focuses on SAP activities of the team.

Functional Outputs/Activities per key performance area:
1. Preventive Maintenance Scheduling and Execution in SAP
Schedule routine preventive maintenance checks in SAP to ensure optimal performance of equipment and reduce unplanned downtime.
Generate and print preventive maintenance (PM) checklists, ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed by technicians, and close work orders in the system upon task completion.

2. Planned Maintenance System Monitoring and Optimization
Plan, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of the planned maintenance system to maximize equipment reliability, product quality, and production efficiency.
Continually evaluate plant performance data and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

3. Inventory and Spare Parts Management
Monitor spare parts usage for each equipment item, making timely requests for necessary parts to ensure availability.
Arrange and organize spares in their designated bins, capturing bin numbers in the system for easy tracking and access.
Conduct monthly stocktaking of spares, reconciling physical inventory with system records to maintain accurate stock levels.

4. Budget Monitoring and Expenditure Control
Track maintenance expenditures, comparing them against budget allocations, and advise the Engineering Manager on budget compliance and spending efficiency.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through focused improvements and innovative solutions to enhance cost-efectiveness.

5. Data Analysis, Reporting, and Record Maintenance
Maintain accurate maintenance records and analyze performance data, generating weekly, monthly, and annual reports to support maintenance and operational improvements.
Collect and report data on plant operations, providing insights and recommendations for enhancing equipment efficiency and reliability.

6. Work Order Management and Notifications
Capture notifications raised by technicians, converting them into actionable work orders within the system.
Plan preventive maintenance activities in the system, monitor work order progress, and ensure closure once the tasks are completed.

7. Machine Availability and Reliability Enhancement
Take proactive steps to maximize machine availability and reliability, thereby supporting improved productivity and reduced downtime.
Utilize reliability-focused strategies to ensure critical equipment remains operational and effectively supports production targets.

8. Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdowns exceeding 30 minutes, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

9. Spare Parts Cost Management and Innovation
Control spare parts costs by identifying innovative, cost-effective alternatives and improvements in maintenance processes to ensure sustainable resource management.
10. Ad Hoc Responsibilities and Team Collaboration
Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to contributing to the maintenance team’s overall success.

Financial Management
• Support the Engineering Manager in the control of the maintenance budget.
• Ensuring planning and follow-up on key tasks & costs through executing effective solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets for the assigned equipment.

Risk Management
• Identify the department’s risks, their various mitigations and keep track of them.
Compliance
• Ensure regulatory compliance in execution of activities within Uganda
• Adherence to all Movit Group and In Country Policies and Procedures.
• Prepare and submit location daily report.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing / Industrial option) obtained from a recognized institution.
• Knowledge in SAP
• Awareness in occupational health & safety

Related Minimum Experience:
• 3 to 5 years relevant experience in FMCG Industry preferably in a similar role.
