Background of the project
PlayMatters is an education project being implemented in Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda that focused on promoting Learning through Play (LtP) approaches to pre and primary children aged 3 to +12 living in refugee camps and host communities. PlayMatters is implemented by a consortium of partners led by the International Rescue Committee, in collaboration with Plan International, War Child Holland, Innovations for Poverty Action, and the Behavioral Insights Team. The project is funded by the LEGO Foundation.
Activity Overview
After the refinement of the Play-based materials with the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) along with School Leaders Play based materials with ADEM. The IRC is planning to engage a consultant to translate and proofread of 8 co-created guides, which are PTA/SMC Guide, Community Guide, TCPD Guide, LtP -TIE Guides into French Language to support Congolese and Burundian Education in refugee camps. The consultant will work on Translating, language Editing, content flow, and typesetting of the refined materials. The activity is expected to start from February 20th to 31st March, 2025. Thus, the Consultant will ensure refined materials are translated to quality standard before the final meeting with the Tanzania Institute of Education and MoEST for their review and final approval of the materials to be used for Pre and Primary school teachers’ training and Classroom implementation practices in Refugee camps.

The Content Review Consultant is expected to do technical content and language translation of 7 documents, namely:

1. Facilitator’s guide to learning and teaching through play, promoting well-being and inclusivity in in pre and primary school in Tanzania.
2. Teacher’s play resource books for learning and teaching through play, enhancing well-being and inclusivity in school in pre and primary schools in Tanzania.
3. Teacher’s module for learning and teaching through play, promoting well-being and inclusivity in school in pre and primary schools in Tanzania.
School leaders on Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Guides
1. Facilitator’s guide for teachers’ continuous professional development teams in supporting learning through play.
2. Module for teachers’ continuous professional development teams in supporting learning through play.”
3. Facilitators’ guide for capacity building of school committee and parent-teacher association in the supervision of teaching and learning through play.”
4. Manual for school committee and parents-teachers association members in supervising teaching and learning that uses plays.”
Requirements:
- Masters degree or equivalent in Linguistics (French) or Education with French from recognized education institution/university
- A proven track record of translating educational materials into French Language, supported by a portfolio.
- Familiarity with Educational Terminology: Understanding the terms and concepts used in curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and educational frameworks.
- Background in Education or Pedagogy: Experience or qualifications in teaching, curriculum development, or educational research are valuable.
- Knowledge of Learning Contexts: Awareness of regional or cultural variations in education systems, especially in French-speaking countries
- Familiarity with Educational Terminology: Understanding the terms and concepts used in curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and educational frameworks.
- Ability to adapt content to align with the cultural and educational norms of French-speaking regions.
- At least 2-3 years working in education with a focus on active teaching and learning. methodologies.
- Excellent knowledge of pedagogies related to active teaching including learning through play.
- Self-directed, able to independently set priorities and solve problems with minimal guidance.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment, within and across departments/functions and develop positive relationships with local and remote-based staff.
Other Experiences
• Experience working in Tanzania in the education sector in humanitarian and development settings.
