Job Purpose:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our Legal & Corporate Affairs department as a Legal Assistant. The role holder will support the department’s day-to-day operations, providing essential assistance to the team on various legal related matters.

Reporting to: Legal Officer

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support key legal projects and initiatives;
  • Support in corporate governance matters;
  • Providing input to improve legal processes;
  • Attend meetings and takes minutes as required;
  • Prepare and submit reports and presentations as required;
  • Assist in ensuring legal and statutory compliance of the business;
  • Assist with drafting of legal correspondence and legal documentation;
  • Perform administrative duties such as print work, managing files and calendars;
  • Assisting to keep our data processing register and meet other privacy law requirements;
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary information and documentation for legal matters;
  • Carrying out legal research on a variety of matters relating to the business, advising on general areas and tracking new developments on law;
  • Assist in drafting and preparing contracts, as well as keeping updated the contracts register and assisting with contract reviews and renewals;
  • Performing such other legal related roles as may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Law (LLB) from an accredited institution;
  • Postgraduate professional progress (not required but an added advantage);
  • Up to one (1) years’ relevant work or internship experience in in-house legal counsel;
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
