Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Legal Assistant at UTU Cars Africa in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for legal document preparation, communication, administrative assistance, and supporting legal services for all our brands. This role allows for some flexibility in remote work.
Qualifications

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience in the automotive or renewable energy industry is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (Bar admission is an added advantage)
Key Responsibilities:
- Agreements & Contracts Management:
- Prepare, review, and negotiate various agreements, including MRAs, MOUs, Tenancy Agreements, and more.
- Develop and amend templates for rental, lease, and disposal agreements to minimize risk.
- Ensure effective filing, storage, and retrieval of all legal documents.
- Project Legal Support:
- Conduct legal needs analysis for the ACF Gas Project, providing weekly reports and recommendations.
- Develop and manage documentation for joint ventures, employee contracts, and other relevant project documents.
- Ensure compliance with the MPSR Act for lease and rental transactions.
- Dealership Agreements:
- Prepare and review NDAs and dealership agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
- Monitor dealership agreements and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Filing & Dashboard Management:
- Ensure all contracts are properly executed, filed, and retrievable.
- Maintain and update debt collection files and related dashboards.
- Repossession & Debt Collection:
- Coordinate repossession matters regionally, including issuing instructions and managing the process.
- Prepare and share demand and termination letters, escalating cases as needed.
- ERP Process Compliance:
- Work closely with inquiries to coordinate transactions, ensuring proper documentation in the ERP system.
- Litigation & Legal Opinions:
- Engage advocates for legal representation in cases of client defaults.
- Provide legal opinions, research, and guidance on complex legal issues.
- Compliance with Company Policies:
- Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, assessing legal risks and mitigating potential liabilities.
