
The Legal Compliance Intern will support the company in ensuring adherence to Tanzanian laws and regulations, including compliance with the Companies Act, immigration services, and the acquisition of various permits and licenses. The intern will also be responsible for following up with government authorities on submitted applications and assisting with legal documentation and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow up with government authorities (e.g., Business Registration and Licensing Agency – BRELA, Tanzania Revenue
Authority – TRA, Immigration Department, Labor Office, etc.) on submitted applications.
Assist in ensuring compliance with the Companies Act and other relevant corporate laws in Tanzania.
Support in obtaining work permits, residence permits, business licenses, and other regulatory approvals.
Conduct legal research on Tanzanian laws and regulations affecting company operations.
Prepare and submit compliance reports and maintain proper records of legal documents.
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents and agreements.
Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update the management accordingly.
Coordinate with internal teams and external legal advisors for compliance-related matters.
Support in compliance audits and risk assessments as required
Education Requirements & Job Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Law, Business Law, or related field.
Knowledge of Tanzanian corporate laws, immigration regulations, and compliance procedures.
Experience or internship exposure with government authorities is an added advantage.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and follow up effectively with authorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
