
Job position: Intern
Agventure Limited’s core focus is on grain farming through sustainable conservation agriculture and crop rotation.
To provide farmers with a broad crop portfolio of adapted high performing varieties, Agventure has developed a strong variety trialing and registration capability in the Agventure Seeds Team. Recently, this has been complemented through a strategic partnership with KWS SAAT Se & Co. KGaA, a world-renowned plant breeding company based in Germany.
Current operations range from extensive field trialing and product development to product registration and seed production. Next, we want to grow all commercial operations to provide a channel for our newly registered products and all activities necessary to support this commercialisation.
The intern will be based in our KWS Seed department Nakuru office and reporting to the KWS Breeder. He/she will support the breeder in various breeding related operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Support in preparation, packing, planting, and processing of nursery activities (including pollination and selfings)
- Data capture and report writing.
- Working together with the breeder on early generational trials and making selection decisions.
- Support all breeding matters
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- At least a Bachelors (from a reputable university) or master’s degree in agriculture, Biology, Horticulture or in a field related to agriculture.
- Proven experience of plant breeding activities.
- Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel and Word.
- Team player.
- Ability to communicate professionally in English.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel (ca. 30 %).
Timeline: Closing date for applicants 20th July 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed thereafter.
Location: Agventure office on the Sigor Road, Menengai, Nakuru.
Duration: 6 months contract upon review.
