INSURANCE OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY

Real People Insurance Agency is a subsidiary of Real People Kenya Limited, a non-deposit-taking financial solutions provider for businesses targeting the mass market in Kenya. We seek a detail-oriented and personable Insurance Officer to keep us organized and generate new business.

The overall responsibility of the Insurance Officer will be to sell, solicit, differentiate, and negotiate insurance plans that match the needs of the assigned or prospective customers’ portfolio. The officer will also help us process paperwork and manage all inquiries and queries so our clients get the best service we can provide. The position holder should be an organized professional who brings a positive, problem-solving energy to the office. The goal is to build strong positive relationships, attain growth, and increase our firm’s reputation.

This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and/ or his designate and is based in Nairobi.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Breed productive relationships to create a pool of prospective clients from various sources by networking, cold calling, using referrals, etc

Evaluate business or individual customers’ needs and financial status and propose protection plans that meet their criteria

Report the progress of monthly/ quarterly initiatives to stakeholders

Maintain bookkeeping systems, database, and records Monitor insurance claims to ensure mutual satisfaction

Achieve customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives

Follow-up on premiums from clients and commissions from underwriters

Constantly update job knowledge and learn about new products and services

Fulfil all policy requirements

Complete all administrative tasks associated with meeting clients’ and related stakeholders’ requirements

Update our database regularly to make sure we have current customer information readily available

Keep track of office expenses and perform basic bookkeeping duties to ensure we stay within the budget Purchase office supplies as needed and schedule maintenance for office equipment repairs, if needed

• Adapt to the team’s needs and assist with other projects as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field
  • A Certificate of Proficiency (COP) from the College of Insurance is an added advantage Proven working experience with an underwriting or insurance brokerage/ agency company
  • Familiarity with all types of insurance plans (Credit, Automobile, Fire, Life, Property, Medical, etc)
  • Basic computer knowledge and statistical analysis
  • Proven ability to work with goals
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, influence, and sell effectively
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions and in creating long-lasting relationships
