HR Assistant

About this Role:

The HR Assistant will play a vital role in supporting EMI Uganda’s human resources functions.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate employee records, assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes, supporting employee relations, and helping to ensure compliance with HR policies and Ugandan employment laws. This position fosters a supportive environment that reflects EMI’s values and mission, working closely under the guidance of the HR Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Vibrant Christian faith
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in human resources or administrative support (3+ years preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse, cross-cultural teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with HR software
  • Basic understanding of Ugandan employment laws and HR best practices

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, and interviewing
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees and manage employee exit procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate personnel records
  • Support the preparation and administration of payroll, and coordinate with the finance department for accurate processing
  • Help administer employee benefits and manage related queries
  • Oversee and coordinate both national and expatriate personnel programs, ensuring smooth integration and support
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Assist with organizing staff events and promoting a positive work environment
