Position Overview:
Anglican Development Services of Mt. Kenya East (ADSMKE), the development arm of the Anglican Church
of Kenya, serves communities in Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Isiolo, and Marsabit Counties.
Committed to empowering the poor and vulnerable. ADSMKE focuses on improving livelihoods through
Disaster Risk Reduction, enhancing food and water security, and providing both curative and preventative

We are seeking a professional and dynamic Hospital Administrator to oversee the operations of ACK Mt.
Kenya Hospital, a faith-based healthcare facility located 2.5 km from Kerugoya town. The Hospital
Administrator will ensure that the hospital runs efficiently, delivering quality healthcare services in alignment
with the hospital’s vision: “To be a preferred health care center offering affordable, accessible, and
sustainable services.” This role is critical in ensuring the smooth delivery of healthcare services while
upholding the hospital’s Christian principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
a. Oversee the hospital’s daily operations, ensuring the seamless coordination of services
between departments to deliver optimal patient care.
b. Manage patient flow, clinical services, and resource allocation, ensuring strict adherence to
protocols for admissions, appointments, and procedures.
2. Financial Management:
a. Develop, monitor, and manage the hospital’s budget, ensuring alignment with financial
objectives and regulatory standards.
b. Oversee procurement processes, ensuring timely acquisition of medical supplies, compliance
with NHIF/SHA claims, and effective inventory management to prevent overstocking or
shortages.
3. Strategic Leadership:
a. Implement and drive long-term strategic initiatives that align hospital services with industry
best practices and evolving healthcare trends.
b. Lead efforts in healthcare marketing, identifying opportunities for growth, brand positioning,
and continuous improvement in service delivery

4. Compliance and Legal Oversight:
a. Ensure full compliance with Kenyan healthcare regulations, including NHIF/SHA
requirements and Ministry of Health standards, safeguarding the hospital’s operational
integrity.
b. Develop, implement, and maintain robust risk management frameworks and safety
protocols, ensuring the highest standards of care and legal adherence.
5. Human Resource Management:
a. Lead the recruitment, training, and professional development of hospital staff, fostering a
motivated, skilled, and performance-driven workforce.
b. Establish and manage policies for staff retention, performance evaluation, and continuous
development to ensure high levels of competence and engagement.
6. Patient Advocacy and Community Relations:
a. Serve as a patient advocate, addressing grievances, enhancing patient experiences, and
ensuring the hospital meets the highest standards of patient care.
b. Build strong community relations, promoting the hospital’s services, and enhancing its
reputation as a trusted healthcare provider.
Key Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
 Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, Nursing, Public Health,
Clinical Medicine, Health Systems Management, Public Administration, or a relevant field
(essential).
 Master’s degree in Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Public Health, Business
Administration (Healthcare focus), Public Administration and Policy, or a relevant field (distinct
advantage).
 Additional certifications in healthcare leadership or project management (e.g., PMP) are
desirable, and prior experience in health administrative roles is an added advantage.
Experience:
 Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital administrator role or a similar position.
 Familiarity with NHIF/SHA regulations and medical compliance requirements is highly
advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
 Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
 Strong financial management abilities, including budget development and resource allocation.
 Proficient in hospital management software (HMIS) and the MS Office Suite.
 Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
 Ability to work effectively under pressure and independently while managing a multidisciplinary
team

Other Requirements:
Candidates must provide clearance certificates from the following, as per Chapter 6 of the
Constitution of Kenya:
 Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
 Clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
 Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
 Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
 Clearance from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
