Health And Safety Officer

The job is based at Nyandarua Road Project Site. It is expected to be a 1-year contract with possibility of extension with a net salary of KES 40,000

Responsibilities

i. Develop, implement, and enforce EHS policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with set standards.

ii. Conduct regular risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures to mitigate risks.

iii. organize and deliver EHS training sessions and awareness programs to promote a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and the community.

iv. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

v. monitor environmental impact, managing waste disposal, emissions, and pollution control to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.

vi. Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including developing emergency response plans and conducting regular drills.

vii. Act as the main point of contact for EHS-related matters on-site, providing guidance to management and workers on safety and environmental best practices.

viii. Prepare and submit detailed reports on EHS performance, incident statistics, and improvement recommendations to management.

Qualifications

1. Degree/Diploma: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field

2. Additional Certification on Health & Safety added advantage (Fire Safety & First Aid, NEBOSH)

3. At least 3-year previous experience, particularly In construction projects

4. Able to articulate, develop, and implement policies on, carry out audits, reporting, and record keeping of environmental, health, safety, & social matters.
