We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Health and Safety Officer to oversee the safety operations at the site.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety policies to minimize risk of injury or accidents on site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the construction site to ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend preventative measures.
- Ensure all personnel have access to and understand the site’s safety plan and procedures.
- Train workers on safety protocols and use of equipment to maintain safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks to keep workers informed.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and contractors to ensure safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in construction or industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, especially related to the construction industry.
- Certified Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) certification or similar credentials.
- Knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to create reports.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions quickly in emergency situations.
Work Environment:
- Majority of work will be carried out on-site, requiring physical presence at the construction site.
- The role may involve exposure to hazardous conditions, which requires the use of PPE.
- Flexible hours may be required based on the project needs.
