Job title: Water Treatment Plant Team Leader
Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure there is right concentration of treatment chemicals added in water
- Carry out weekly sanitation of water treatment tanks, polishers, filters and the all water treatment area.
- Monitor the cartridge and carbon filters to ensure they are work properly.
- Conducting water analysis tests such as hardness, alkalinity, PH, turbidity, chlorine residual, etc., for treatment process control
- Carry out daily backwash of carbon filters.
- Ensure adequate supply of treated water to Production lines.
- Maintain the dosing pre-treatment chlorination facility including routine maintenance, & equipment and adjusting chemical feed rates.
- Maintain water treatment records in accordance with UNBS and ISO standards.
- Ensures that plant operations are following SOPs/ guidelines.
- Create an effective and efficient testing protocol to be used in the water treatment section
- Discuss inspection results with quality assurance and recommend necessary corrective actions.
- Documents the results of the different tests undertaken

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bachelors in water Engineering or any relevant discipline
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
- At least 2-3 years hands-on in the Food Industry. Beverage manufacturing plant is a distinct advantage.

Job title: Maintenance Controller
Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda
Division / Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Packaging Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Asset Care
- Partake in the development of the asset care plan for the packaging plant, contributing suggestions and providing expert advice.
- Ensure that asset care competencies are developed in the Packaging Engineering team. Where training needs have been identified, ensure these are addressed.
- Support the implementation of the Predictive Maintenance Strategy, including the Condition Monitoring program
- Where required, participate in the OEM SPP (Supplier Partnering Programme) meetings
- Is accountable for the execution of the technical gap plan for the plant
- Exercise budgetary controls over the asset care requirements e.g. spares
- Plant Reliability
- Responsible for the reliability and uptime of Packaging plant.
- Ensure the execution of maintenance / extended maintenance work
- Lead the Packaging Engineering team in the provision of asset care and engineering support to the shift-based production teams.
- Support packaging performance improvement by conducting and leading performance optimization initiatives.
- Ensure that predictive maintenance techniques are implemented correctly.
- Ensure spares needed to support asset management program are available on time and within costs
- Verify that the technical teams are carrying out routine and planned maintenance, and validate quality of work.
- Ensure compliance to maintenance planning and execution of maintenance outage
- Ensure that Maintenance packages are updated and effective and that all Engineering changes are executed
- Confirms that spares and special tools are available
- Coordinate and control MAS’s availability for the maintenance day.
- Review plant reliability to ensure equipment is operating optimally and to identify problems or opportunities timeously.
- Take part in maintenance problem solving, and ensure that the Packaging Engineering team is applying the correct problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure that Technical gaps are closed within budget
- Develop and control maintenance cost plans and CAPEX
- Plant Optimisation
- Evaluate impact of new plant and equipment, and recommend changes.
- Have a working understanding of plant operation and associated Work Instructions and/or procedures.
- Analyse plant failure modes and investigate causes for repeat failures to identify and correct root causes.
- Take part in evaluating continuous improvement opportunities identified by the production teams or engineering support.
- Ensure that continuous improvement is built into the MAS’s team goals, and forms part of regular goal review sessions.
- Team Leadership and Management
- Lead the development of team goals and ensure these are communicated and understood by team members.
- Entrench a high-performance culture by conducting regular Packaging Engineering team goal review sessions,
- Ensure training need analysis are conducted and training plans developed for team members.
- Ensure appropriate competencies are developed in the team, and ensure multi-skilling occurs within the Packaging team. (this includes evaluation of workmanship of teams)
- Manage Contracted-out maintenance services by ensuring that the service supplied is in strict accordance with supply scheme contract and that of service and product reliability, quality, cost, and the service provider’s own employee behavior is acceptable while on site.
- Safety and Housekeeping
- Ensure that the team members apply proper safety and housekeeping procedures, and adhere to all legal requirements when carrying out their tasks.
- Ensure adherence to the appropriate and legislative policies (such as OSH Act) on safety and housekeeping.
- Ensure all statutory and mandatory checks are part of the asset care management system, are performed and all documentation completed and recorded.
- Ensure that health, safety and housekeeping receive appropriate focus through regular checks and audits, with appropriate monthly/quarterly meetings.
- Where unsafe work practices have been identified, the Maintenance Controller is responsible for correcting this.
- Performs any other task as per management request.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in supervising Maintenance activities.

Job title: Shift Electrical Artisan
Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installing electrical equipment and appliances.
- Wiring and installing power to new machines.
- Checking and testing faulty motors at the factory.
- Releasing power where need be around the company.
- Changing faulty lights, breakers and conductors for the company.
- Maintaining all power points in the factory.
- Installing cable trays where need be.
- Working with the IT team and any other department under the category of technical if there is an electrical breakdown.
- Repairing lights installed on machines like the QA inspection lights.
- Repairing or changing damaged accessories.
- Building new power supplies at the factory.
- Inspecting old installations and solving faults if found.
- Providing power to new AC’s being installed in the factory.
- Testing and repairing electrical appliances.
- Any other duties as per management request.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
