Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operating all chemical dosing pumps and making sure that pump doses the required amount as per prescribed standards
  • Analyzing the quality of water for parameter such as TDS, PH, alkalinity, chlorine content, and determining the flow of raw and treated water.
  • Doing backwash for carbon purifiers.
  • Doing steaming of carbon purifiers and sanitization of ultra-filters.
  • Replacing filter cartridges as per schedule.
  • Checking all the operation of all pumps and machineries in water treatment section, report immediately any failure to the supervisor.
  • Preparing caustic, per-acetic acid and chlorine Solutions at the required standards and strength for all water treatment plant and production lines CIPs.
  • Reporting any anomalies of machines or process equipment to Water Treatment & Syrup Room Supervisor.
  • Checking the utility pump and monitoring all cooling tower inlet and outlet circuit and making sure its running well.
  • Carrying out Weekly sanitation of   water treatment water tanks, polishers, filters and the all water treatment area.
  • Monitoring the MF filters to ensure they are work properly.
  • Ensuring adequate supply of treated water to Production lines.
  • Ensuring plant CIPs are carried out as per CIP Mandate requirement and ensuring proper data recording.
  • Ensuring adequate stocks of water treatment reagents and chemicals. Monitoring of gauges, flowmeters, charts, system control panel, etc.
  • Maintaining water treatment records in accordance with UNBS Standards.
  • Providing training, coaching and support to the new water treatment team.
  • Monitoring and operating UF, RO, and CIP system, as per the standard frequency.
  • Ensuring all pressure gauges and temperature sensor calibrated as per the frequency.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • BSc in Chemistry/Biology/Food Sciences and/or HND or equivalent from a reputable Institute
  • At least 2-3 years hands-on in the Food Industry. Beverage manufacturers have a distinct advantage.
  • Familiar with Carbonated Soft Drinks and/or water treatment plant.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene handling techniques

Job title: Quality Control Officer -ETP

Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: QC Team Leader- ETP/QCM

Job Purpose

This job involves operating, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting the effluent treatment facility/plant (ETP) and its processes.

 

Responsibilities   of all Hariss Employees.

  • Execute all assigned autonomous maintenance of equipment’s & your work place (Asset care @ Source)
  • Uphold work area cleanliness at all times Cleaning is the responsibility of all employees and should not be the soul responsibility of “Cleaners”. Each person is responsible for the cleanliness of their own work area. (Cleaning @ Source)
  • Promote & abide by food safety and quality guidelines. (Not allowed to work in any area unless trained in safety and food safety Requirements.
  • Prioritize Occupational health & Safety and environment standards in adherence to company policies & procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Authority: 

  • Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with National and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and sludge management.
  •   Prepare and maintain documents to conform to suitable regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot or participate in troubleshooting of any problem regarding the operation of the plant.
  • Liaise with supervisor and microbiologist to sample wastewater for microbiological analyses.
  • Liaise with the chemistry laboratory analysts to take samples for chemical analysis.
  • Conduct sampling for external analyses in liaison with the supervisor and laboratory analysts.
  • Inspect the treatment plant systems daily and, if necessary, carryout minor maintenance to ensure effective operations.
  • Authorize to stop ETP in case of deviation in operations with consultation of Team leader.
  • Maintain all inventories of consumables such as caustic soda and chlorine.
  • Daily monitoring of facility and environmental conditions to ensure validity of results.
  • Assist team leader to investigate non-conforming results and establish appropriate corrective actions.
  • Assist team leader in investigating customer complaints and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Carry out analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Implement documented control measures to prevent occurrence of impartiality and quality laboratory risks.
  • Assist in analysis of data obtained from ETP operations and report writing to assist lab management in decision making.
  • Provide reports to government agencies, departments and other organizations as required.
  • Assist in conducting and taking part internal and external audits.
  • Maintain open communications with the Supervisor regarding the treatment process, operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, environment science, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, from a recognized university or any other related field. OR,
  • A Diploma in the above areas with previous experience in a similar position
  • Familiar with beverage and water treatment plant.
  • Fresh with three months satisfactory on Job Training. One year of experience in a similar role in a busy environment is preferred.

Key Requirements: 

  • Basic knowledge about waste water treatment plant and quality tests related to ETP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

Job Purpose.

Responsible for developing and overseeing maintenance plans for a variety of facilities, equipment, and machinery. The Planner works with a variety of departments and personnel to ensure that maintenance plans are aligned with strategic objectives and that the necessary resources are available to achieve those goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling, tracking and coordination of maintenance activities for the organization.
  • Developing, coordinating, and monitoring maintenance schedules and plans.
  • Monitoring parts and supplies.
  • Resolving maintenance-related issues; providing technical guidance and support; and maintaining up-to-date records and documentation.
  • In charge of developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, as well as recommending improvements to maintenance processes.
  • Ensure that maintenance activities are performed within safety regulations and company standards.
  • Arranging for installations to be put into operation after repairs (or modification) in consultation with production management.
  •   Ensuring the proper functioning and safety of the installations, in such a manner that all legal and company-specific requirements relating to safety, reliability and availability are met.

Other duties.

  • Seeing to the department’s administrative processes, including completion of work orders, time records, used materials, project data, etc.
  • Formulation of work progress reports based on the plant maintenance software.
  • Management of tools, safety and protection equipment and ordering of new tools and resources.
  • Consultancy on optimal spare parts supplies.
  • Keeping up with developments within the professional discipline

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  •   A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Diploma in Mechanical
  •         Engineering relevant discipline.
  •         He should have knowledge in boilers, welding, pipefitting, inside/outside machinist
  •   Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc
  •   Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  •     A minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance management role
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical system.

Job Purpose

The Beverage Team Leader is responsible for whole plant production activity. The goal is to ensure that the production process delivers products of maximum quality in a profitable manner. That way our business can augment customer satisfaction and achieve sustainable growth

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Control and coordinate between all the department like CSD lines, Plastic, Mixing, and Sugar dissolving.
  • Maintain discipline and act to maintain it.
  • Supervise workers and ensures all workers work under limit.
  • Coordinates between production and maintenance department.
  • Achieves production targets by communicating job expectations; monitoring, and appraising job results; disciplining employees, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining quality staffing levels by participating in selection, orientation, training of employees; and development of personal growth opportunities.

Named functions under the authority:

 

Roles and responsibilities

  • General Management & Supervision of the Utilities department.
  • Direct Reporting to the Maintenance Manager over all issues from the section.
  • Responsible for Periodic and Preventive Maintenance planning for all department Machinery in liaison with the Maintenance Manager and oversee the plan execution.
  • To oversee and coordinate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Health Practices (GHPs)within the department.
  • Coordinate the team for teamwork in quick problem troubleshooting and rectification to minimize machine downtime and ensure Maximum Efficiency.
  • Coordinate the team to ensure Energy Conservation to minimize costs and maximize profits.
  • Coordinate the team to ensure Documentation and all department Record keeping.
  • To identify the necessary trainings required by the department Staff and liaison with the Maintenance Manager for Implementation.

  • Maintain the equipment according to good maintenance practice.
  • Assess proper functioning of working machinery and request for repair or replacement in case of need.
  • Assess the nature of repair on a working machine depending on the nature of defect as a quick fix, replacement or major overhaul.
  • Negotiate stoppage of machines with line team leaders to avoid more unnecessary downtime and equipment damage.
  • Stop the machine if it appears to endanger the safety of the operational team. If the stoppage is longer than 30 minutes, the technician must inform the Utilities Team leader of the problem.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in his area of operation.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or any relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
  • Should be knowledgeable on high voltage systems, troubleshooting electric panels.
  • Work experience in power generation with diesel generators/transformers.
  • Basic knowledge on pumps, chillers, boilers and air compressors.
  • Good reporting skills.

  • Responsible for starting up and stopping equipment.
  • Assists with the production line in factories.
  • Responsible for keeping the machine clean.
  • Performs weekly care of machines with the maintenance team.
  • Loads and unload boxes and shrink film glue in machines.
  • Responsible for lubricating the machine and keeping record of it.
  • Responsible for scraping waste material (glue, oil, film) from machines.
  • Ensures conformance to specifications.
  • Responsible for marking parts of identification.
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting gauges.
  • Responsible for recording data of machine-like film weight, glue consumption, machine counter etc.
  • Performing changeover of machine if required.

Job Purpose

The Fridge Technician is responsible for the maintenance of the fridges of the group. The goal is to ensure that the Service & maintenance for all the fridges related to the company are well maintained according to the management guidelines. That way our business can augment customer satisfaction and achieve sustainable growth.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure to Carry out all service activities of assigned job order by the supervisor.
  • Ensure to always act as a company service personal in the market
  • Endeavor to Maintain Dignity of the Company brands.
  • Responsible for the cooler repair, cleaning, maintenance and service work carried out by him
  • Should endeavor standard cleanliness and maintain Standard service level as described by the company
